I think I've found a solution for this problem. Save the subtitle file as UTF-8 (not as ANSI or Sift-jis) and choose UTF-8 at convertXtoDVD7 letter code selection , not JAPANESE . I had a same problem. Exactly the same, except my language is Japanese.

I chose Japanese in both language setting and subtitle setting page.
Nothing has changed though.

Is there any suggestion?

Using ConvertXtoDVD 7.0.0.69, Japanese subtitles are garbled. Changing format, srt,ass,etc... didn't work. Changing letter code ,I mean ANSI, UTF, Shiftjis didn't work either.
