Re: Encoding, Not Filling Discs, Etc...
Each resolution ratio (more commonly called storage aspect as in your link) has a different pixel aspect in order to display at a specific aspect. 10/11 would be the PAR for 704x480 resolution -- 704 is the number of pixels in a line that is discussed as one of the options/standards in your link.

Re: Encoding, Not Filling Discs, Etc...
A typo? I noticed in my logs that menu had this: width=720,height=480,dar=4/3,(part cut),aspect=8/9 but actual movie had this: width=720,height=480,(part cut),dar=4/3,aspect=10/11 and later 720x480 4:3 should be in 10/11. which is actually for your movie if I'm understanding right. The aspect shown ...

Re: Encoding, Not Filling Discs, Etc...
I burned some AVCHD discs, where I could test with actual discs and not be wasting more expensive blu-rays. Well when I tried to play discs in my Blu-ray player that had been converted with 480 resolution, THEY STRETCHED TO WIDESCREEN. I am almost POSITIVE I selected 4:3 yet when playing it, and pr...

Re: Encoding, Not Filling Discs, Etc...
I decided long ago to not burn to BD discs so may have given you bad advice. Now that you mention it, I seem to remember that converted sizes were about the same no matter what you try.
Please continue to let us know what you find out, it might help a lot of other users.

Re: Encoding, Not Filling Discs, Etc...
Hmm so basically if I chose 720, for example, if the original source were anything whatsoever other than the exact dimensions of a 720p movie, it would then take those resize settings into account? Yes. It's tough to decide whether I "should" aim for resizing and see if I can improve anyt...

Re: Encoding, Not Filling Discs, Etc...
Choose the encoding option you like most but consider the audience you are burning for. If it is primarily you then sounds like you want SP. If it is other people also then consider that most people don't notice a difference between SP and MP unless they are looking for it. So you might want to show...

Re: Encoding, Not Filling Discs, Etc...
I do NOT intend to fill the disc totally. So should I flat out not use two passes just by that fact alone? Or I still should consider the source? Two pass will have no noticeable effect as long as the disc is not filled so don't use it. And I doubt that the best quality setting is worthwhile. It's ...

Re: Encoding, Not Filling Discs, Etc...
Hover your mouse cursor over the encoding options in settings and the conditions for which the times shown are given. Differences between your project and those conditions are accounted for by keeping the bitrate per pixel the same. For example, times will go up if your audio uses less bitrate or yo...

Re: AHHHHHHAAHAAAHAHRRRRGGGHHHH
its still not encoding it the way I want to I find that strange Target size is the size to be respected, not to be met. That is true. The program will assign as much bitrate as needed as long as the disc won't be overfilled, it will reduce bitrate below optimum as needed if necessary to prevent ove...

Re: AHHHHHHAAHAAAHAHRRRRGGGHHHH
That is only a 18 minute file. It would have completely filled the 23000 MB disc if it had been 105 minutes long.
What is odd to me is the bloated size of the original source file.

A fast CPU and adequate fast memory are most important. Maybe someone more qualified will see your post and help with specifics.

Re: Encoding time
You're right, conversion speed depends on a lot of things, so what other people experience isn't very helpful. What I do is use short clips of different types of videos, maybe 10 minutes long (crop the video if necessary), and run tests with different settings, then compare results for quality diffe...

Re: ConvertxtoHD menu question
Sorry this is late. You can add the first episode of each season then merge the rest of the season's episodes to each of those, a chapter point will be added at the start of each merged episode. Then using a menu like VSO Glossy, either 6 or 10 episode/title per page, all the seasons will be listed ...

Re: Re convertxtodvd to HD
You will have to try and judge for yourself how many you can put on a BD-25 then. I was trying to be conservative with those rules of thumb because of the wide variation in movies, some movies may require three times as much bitrate to get the same quality as another one due to differences in length...

You're welcome.
I should point out that those suggestions above are based on a double layer BD-50 disc, I edited that post to correct it.

Re: Re convertxtodvd to HD
I forgot that you can choose to convert to DVD resolution with ConvertXtoHD, and you probably should anyway when the input is of DVD quality. In that case, you could put 4 or 5 average movies on a BD-50 disc and get about the same viewing quality as with a DVD disc. Only about 2 movies should be put...

Re: Re convertxtodvd to HD
You can add up to 99 titles, but remember that you are converting to HD resolution instead of the much lower DVD resolution, so quality may suffer if you add too much. FullHD has about 6 times as many pixels to account for and the capacity of a BD disc is a little less than 6 times that of a DVD, so...

Re: Re convertxtodvd to HD
ConvertXtoHD does have the same basic functionality and interface as that of ConvertXtoDVD. ConvertXtoHD only creates HD output formats though. So, although you can burn that HD format to a DVD, you will still need ConvertXtoDVD to create DVD format discs.

Re: How to crop videos?
That procedure may not work right, I didn't actually try it. Here is one I did try: 1. Add the file, crop it and save the change. 2. Choose to Add a custom profile for the format to convert to. 3. Change File format to MP4 in Step 1. 4. Change Video aspect ratio to 16:9 in Step 2. 5. Click the Step ...
