project freezes near the end

I am trying to convert .vob files to a format that will run on a DVD player for a client who had to send her old camera's disks to a data recover center and was sent a hard drive with nothing but .vob files.
My problem is, when I start a project (even when doing a small file by itself) it freezes at about 98% and won't move. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Attached is my log from my last attempt.

.VOB files are essentially mpg 2 files. Perhaps it would be better if you first convert the files to mpg 2 in a video converter.

There is a freeware program called makemkv....I use this to convert my bob files then use the MKV with convertxtodvd....works perfectly...

Although I find that running the program in safe mode sometimes avoids such crashes.....

Maybe worth a shot first...
