Stops for no apparent reason

Post by dragnil »

After using this happily for some time I've run into a problem. I have been creating Bluray discs of mp4 concerts (including the Lahti orchestra, JJ) and have been successful until now.

I've used the same settings as before but now after anything 15 - 30% it just stops with the message:
vso 11.21.JPG
It's not true - I'd set it going and was out of the room! ;o)

I've rebuilt the project more than once with no change and I used the Support Centre from the Help menu and it seemed to collect a lot of data then says it is sending it and to wait, and wait and wait; so I don't think that's working. I did however let it reinstall the program but it fell over again.

I'm not sure which log files would help, so I'm attaching those which appear to be relevant based on their time.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Some more information which I hope will help.

By good fortune I still have version 2 installed on the PC so I ran this with the project mentioned above - and it ran perfectly, right through to burning the disc - great.

Why? It seems to me that the project is OK and therefore there is either a relevant difference in my settings or there is a significant difference between v2 and v3. However, v3 worked fine until a couple of days ago so what settings coudl be different.

I went through the Default Settings menus and they were identical except for a couple of new things in v3 to do with sound which are not present in v2.

Under Subtitles, Smart copy is disabled and
Under Audio, "Allow smart copy" is Try to copy only if ...

Does this give any clues as to where I am going wrong?

Another update.

Version 2 ran perfectly again - still using the same project for testing.

Version 3 (latest and reinstalled) I reset the options to VSO defaults and then changed only the destination drive and folder. Failed again at about 18% as above. I can't see what to try next except use v2...

Hello Anais,

Many thanks, I'll do what I can to help but there seems to be a problem for me with your reporting tool. I have used it 4 or 5 times in the last few days but I always get this:
vso 11.21_2.JPG
It's still showing this 20 minutes after I submitted ...

Could it be your operating system? as the screenshot says windows 7. Microsoft support for win7 ended nearly 7 years ago, on January 13, 2015.

A fair point but I have good reasons to remain on Win7, it's not just laziness.
However, the original problem of terminating early is unlikely to be caused by the OS because it has worked perfectly since I moved up from v2.

My go to with odd issues is to reinstall using "clean option" about 3 screens into the install process

Thanks, a good suggestion, but I'm afraid it didn't make a difference.

Thanks can only suggest what you have already done and sent the log to Anais.
On weekend I successfully did two disks, and they completed file, these were about 24 short HD videos and burnt AVCHD to DVD5. Same audio and subtitles as you used (the default ones). Version ConvertxtoHD 3.0.0.74

Just noticed you are not using latest beta version of the app 3.0.0.74, you seem to have 3.0.0.71 in your screen shot. Hope this resolves it as there was memory leak issue with one of the earlier versions, and this caused the issues you are experiencing.

Good suggestion, I've avoided non-final versions but your mention of a memory leak is helpful. I'll try it today. Thanks.
