Virtual Memory Low

Post by eddie11013 »

Have not encountered this before. Granted the overall file size for the ‘4’ TV episodes was large, 32 Gig’s. When the conversion process started, two files started, one was paused (virtual memory low), and the other did not start. I stopped the process, went into changing the virtual memory on my 16 gig Ram. Deselected the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives checkbox. changed min size to 24576 and max size to 73728. Started the process again, no change.

Hopefully I can find a file that is much smaller, but if not, any suggestions on how to resolve. I assume the process would eventually work, but it might take a ‘long’ time. Usually, on my PC, '4' TV episodes might only take 15 minutes or so.

Running latest version. All updates, Windows 11. Outside of buying more ‘ram’, any suggestions.

Speccy in case its needed.

Thanks in advance

Might need to wait for 64bit version as that can handle huge amounts of memory. 32 bit version is limited.

Well, 64bit, not expecting that to happen any time soon. It is what it is.
Do you suppose that if I had 32 gig's of ram that it would have worked?
Just wondering.

Can not say for sure, only devs can.
But using more than 32Gb memory sizes with 32 bit program can cause problems.
Even Windows has to be 64 bit to use more than 4Gb RAM!

Just an FYI - I had already ordered an additional 16gig ram stick. Plugged it in. This 32gig file "still" crashed. That's OK. I found a smaller file and was able to convert its 4 files. Those 4 files only totalled 10 gig's. I now have 32gig's of ram, don't know if it will help in conversion's going forward, but I didn't buy it because of this issue.

Anyway, thanks for replying

Hi guys, sorry for the late answer.

As JJ has already said (thank you!) the problem appears cause ConvertXtoDVD is a 32bit version program, 32bit soft has some RAM limits. ConvertX can use only 3gb of ram (1gb is left for the system).
So it doesn't depend on the amount of ram on your PC, it stays always 3gb. Sorry
64bit version is in work, we will release it as soon as we can.

Exactly. The files put on hold would be converted after. Unfortunately I can't say precisely how many videos you can convert in one time in ConvertX, cause it doesn't only depend on the video size, but also on its resolution.
