Code more than 2 files?
Hi,
I am trying to code mp4s (or mkvs) to DVD format.
The programme used to code as many files as I wanted, but now if I try to do more than 2 files at a time, it fails every time.
Why is that?
How can I code more than 2 files to make a DVD?
Thanks.
Ian

Which version do you use?
Which error do you see when the conversion fails?

Re: Code more than 2 files?
Try installing latest version ConvertXtoDVD 7.0.0.78 - released Wed January 18, 2023.
And on about 3rd screen in, tick the boxes for a clean install.

Re: Code more than 2 files?
Unless you used the same files before where it was working with more than 2 files and it STILL fails at 2 files, then, most likely, it's failing on this 2nd input file for being corrupt for some reason. Try encoding each one separately as a test to see if you can isolate if it's one of the two files where you know it's failing on.

Re: Code more than 2 files?
Hi again,
If I code one at a time (or 2 at a time) it codes them perfectly, but as soon as I add another file, it fails.
It's really irritating not being able to do ONE DVD disc with 6 or 7 episodes on it, rather than 4 discs with 2 episodes each, to be honest!
I don't think the files are corrupt.
Thanks
Ian

Re: Code more than 2 files?
There's one way to see if the file is corrupt. You say if you add a 3rd file, conversion fails. Add 3 files to a job and try to convert them. If it fails to convert those 3 files all together, then try converting each one one at a time by itself. If each converts on its own, then you know it's not a corrupt file. If one fails to convert, you know it's a corrupt file and which one it is.

Re: Code more than 2 files?
Yeah - did that - individual files code perfectly, but if I try to code 3 or more good files (they're all mp4 files), it fails.
It is doing my head in, to be honest!

Re: Code more than 2 files?
Next, if you haven't already, I would try yoyo's suggestion of uninstalling and reinstalling CXD with those options mentioned.

Re: Code more than 2 files?
I have just tried searching for version 7.0.0.78 - on vso-software official website, the latest version seems to be 7.0.0.77 which is the version I've got!?
Re: Code more than 2 files?
7.0.0.78 could be the latest beta version. The latest gold release is 7.0.0.77. Or 7.0.0.78 could have been a typo.

Here is the link for the version 78: http://download.vso-software.fr/archive ... 0.0.78.exe

I have successfully converted to 4 disks (dvd5) so far using ConvertXtoDVD 7.0.0.78 - each disk has 3 x 1.2gb home videos

vers 7 had a bug stopping update to 8.
To find latest version 8, go to the app page, and click on history.

Re: Code more than 2 files?
Aaaarghhhh - deleted 7.0.0.77 & installed 7.0.0.78
Added 7 MP4s - Failed halfway through AGAIN.
This is doing my head in, especially when I used to be able to put loads of files & code it to 1 DVD!
I have sent a ticket off to VSO, but they didn't reply to my last one, so I don't think they will reply this time either.
Anything? Anyone?

Re: Code more than 2 files?
Did you try the suggested full uninstall and reinstall where you checked the 3 boxes to remove all existing configurations, files, etc.?

Re: Code more than 2 files?
Yes - completely new install, got rid of all the history & everything else as suggested.
Re: Code more than 2 files?
Then, it sounds like you've got a Windows issue. Unless you backup Windows regularly, these kinds of solutions, which can generally only be fixed by restoring back to when the software worked, is to completely reinstall Windows. I would hold off on that, though, until a last resort. And what I'd do is take a backup of my system as it currently is with CXD not working. Then, reinstall Windows and install only CXD. Then, test CXD again. If that doesn't work, then you've probably got a hardware issue, which is more difficult to troubleshoot.

Re: Code more than 2 files?
I have (sort of) sorted it out ....
I WAS adding the first file (of 7 TV episodes) then using "Merge files to the selected titleset" - more than 2 files merged made it fail, for some reason.
This time I just Added video files to make new titlesets - that worked to put all 7 episodes on one DVD.
No idea why one works, when the other one didn't ... any ideas?
Thanks to everyone for all of your help up to now.

Re: Code more than 2 files?
Oh, so you were trying to Merge title sets unintentionally? Instead of adding each one as a separate Title?
I haven't tried Merging titles in a while, but I do know it worked for more than 2 inputs some time ago. Let me test Merging more than 2 files and see if it's a bug in Merging titles. If it isn't, it's most likely CXD is choking on the particular input when trying to Merge them.
EDIT: I just added a file that I know works and Merged it with 4 other files that work on their own. CXD did successfully produce output. So, I can't see why CXD would not work with any files you're trying to Merge beyond 2. Unless it is something broken somewhere else.
