7.5.0.128 64bit

Post by yoyo57 »

New version 7.5.0.128 unusable on WIN 10 64 Home and WIN 11 Home. Output format field is blank. Cannot select a format.
Cannot use the reporting tool, it does not recognise me (in error), so cannot input details. So used the "contact" on-line form to report this.

Also tried on a different PC (W10Home 64) and got write protect error after install, than app crashed.

Good morning,

Reporting tool needs to be fixed, this version is still a Beta !

Question: After installing/ updating to v7.5, did you change language ?

If yes, select your language then go through all settings, and select your options.
NOT being able to an option is not something I have seen (yet)

There is a few bugs reported on build 128, waiting feedback from VSO…

Write protect error ? Unsure when, why it would do this…

It auto updated as an available upgrade ?

If you click the list, are you at least able to select your choice ?
VSO will need to look at “Defaults” after installation…

This one I have never seen…

1) Are you installing the file from the .exe LOCALLY ?
2) Does the account have “admin rights”

That one is for Jacques to comment :(

Yes, all weekend the Forum and Bug site went down !

If you clicked on link to download, all these discussions should have been in the BETA forum and not here...

I answered because I was not sure you had access to the Beta Forum, and was not sure it everyone got it as an update...

Some bugs needs to be crunched before it went public (I hope) ;)

I don't know what to suggest, I can install and not having issues :(

I always install using the options selected in the attached image.
This way all I keep are my settings, and the rest gets deleted for a "More Fresh" install.
My 2 cents !

Ohhh I just saw the 64 bits was available to download to everyone off their website…. I didn’t know !

Why I was confused on how you knew and where you got the 64 bits version

VSOreport tool seems to be confused now between the 32 bits versions (other software) and 64 bits (new one) on my machine. This also needs to be looked into in the near future !

Still don’t understand why you are having all those weird issues…

1) Are you now able to install the software with zero errors ?
2) In settings, you are able to select all your preferred options ?
3) CLOSE the applications, ensure all your settings are still set ;)
4) In settings, Hardware Acceleration, download the All Tests Package, and run all tests

Then you are ready to enjoy v7.5 (64 bits) ;)

The 32 bit version will also prompt the user that the 64 bit beta is available if they want to download it and they have opted in for beta announcements in their update settings. I still have the 32 bit version installed side by side with the 64 bit beta for any comparison test purposes I may need to perform.

Morning buddy ;)

When WE testers saw it as an update available, I didn’t know it was for everyone. When VSO said we will publish soon, I didn’t expect it to go to everyone before an official announcement…

Hey, hey! :)

As I said, since I still have the 32 bit version installed, whenever I open it for a comparison test with 64 bit output, I do get prompted about the 64 bit beta update. I would disable the check for beta versions, but since the 32 bit and 64 bit versions share Registry keys, it might prevent the 64 bit version from detecting new beta updates. So, whenever I need to generate 32 bit output for testing purposes, I do manually close off the update notification each time.

My 2 cents worth…

—> Until a specific bug is resolved, using Build 128, ensure you do NOT have more than 1 audio track and/or 1 subtitle.

Else only the 1st audio and 1 subtitle is kept.
VSO was made aware (I opened a bug report) and waiting on this fix…

The rest is pretty solid (again MY opinion) so go end enjoy it !

ISSUE RESOLVED in the now available Build 129

Thank you Jacques !!!

Hi,
This problem occur when the translation cannot load at all, which often denotes a problem of access to a given folder.

The folder in which ConvertXtoDVD must have write access is :

%Programdata%\VSO\ConvertXtoDVD\7 (often "C:\ProgramData\VSO\ConvertXtoDVD\7")

in subfolder "C:\ProgramData\VSO\ConvertXtoDVD\7\Lang" is the cache for translation file(s) - a collection of JSON files. ConvertX must have RW access to this folder

in subfolder "C:\ProgramData\VSO\ConvertXtoDVD\7\Templates" is the repository for menu, it's written by the installer. Read access is enough for this one.

All the problem you have - including the one with the reporting tool - are probably related to these access denied issue.

EDIT: It can also be an issue related to internet access. Translation engine make a request to obtain the list of available translation when the software is starting. If the request fail it may cause this issue as well.

Next build will be more robust toward it.
Jacques.

Hi Jacques hope you are keeping well. Thank you and I updated to beta V129. When I try to change temp folder, the app crashes and closes.
I have admin rights on win11, and changed the folder access to write, but it does not keep this setting (reverts to read only). And when try to change temp folder in app same issue with crash

LATER - was able to manually edit temp folder directory. Also I had to activate software with licence key again.

Hi,

Just so we are 100% sure …

When you installed from the 128.exe
Was the installer.exe on a local drive ?
C:\111\Software etc …

On my 2nd PC downstairs i tried to install from a network share

\\Server08\Software\Build128.exe

It didn’t like that, been a while but unsure of the errors…
So now I know to copy the .exe locally.

When it comes to Update to 129, that IS local so never had an issue on both PCs…

thanks
installed 128 and 129 from local drive. Did both auto update from v83, and also downloaded the file. This happens on my W10 Home 64 pc. And crash. I will wait for next version as I don't think it is my PC. Pic of crash attached

installed on my w11 pc ok, but with bugs had to manually change temp directory in settings (if click on button to search and select folder it crashed) And had to reenter license key

This is bizarre…

I would try to i install Build 128.exe by using <SHIFT>-<RIGHT Click> and select Run as administrator

See if it get’s right access to those critical folders and installs 100% without error.

I have never tested the upgrade from the 32 bits to the new 64 bits.

I always installed fresh using the .exe and I always like to use the option [X] Delete prior version directory etc…

Ah yes, I personally would turn off my Webroot Antivirus, Malwarebytes, and any other software’s that could try to protect those folders…

This is something Jacques definitely would want to understand what is going on :(

Personally, I would also create myself another test user on my machine, so it gets a brand new profile, I have no idea why thise folder would not have the proper read-write access as expected :(

I would look at the set permission of those folders

C:\ProgramData
C:\Program Files
C:\Program files (x86)

This is the only software giving you grief instantly lately ?

Build 129 (64 bits) is quite solid, I “again” personally would uninstall the 32 bits, clean out all traces of ConvertXtoDvd in the registry (HKLM & HKCU) because “I” know what to delete, reboot and re-try the 64 bits installer.

Let’s see if Jacques would agree doing all this unless he wants you to test something else.
These are things I would try, hurts nothing 😂
