New 64 Version LP, MP & SP not working
I had to switch back to 32 version today because the Encoding option for LP, MP & SP are not having an effect on output size anymore on new version. I like to convert in LP mode so I get faster conversion times and smaller files but with the new version its just acting like I have automatic and best video quality selected so all finished files are as close to 4gb as possible. Please fix this so I can switch to new version. Thanks.

I had same issue, these settings fixed it.

I don't get it.
Setting the 'encoding settings' to 'automatic' (and checking 'use best video quality') is the same thing as explicitly setting it to either 'Short Project', 'Medium Project', or 'Long Project' ?

On the 32 bits version, the rate control algorithm was not working at all (and I will not elaborate why but that's the case). That's precisely why we have been forced to make those 3 settings, as an external way to have some sort of rate control. However, what we did was not accurate. The output size was very different depending on the choice LP, MP or SP, most of the time smaller that the target, but also in some case higher than the target (thus causing inability to burn the video on a smaller media).
On the 64 bits version, the issue of bitrate control has been completely solved, and the output bitrate is in the range of 1% difference from the target. So now, no matter the setting you will end up with almost the same output size.
So to be clear, this is because an historic bug in the 32 bits version has been finally solved, and the consequence is that SP,MP or LP setting is now having a marginal effect on the speed and output size - and even we may consider removing them in the future.
The settings that are really affecting encoding speed are double pass and best video quality . Each of these setting roughly double the needed time to encode.
If you really need a smaller output size, you can enter a free numeric value in the Target Size setting (it's always considered as MB)
Jacques.

Re: New 64 Version LP, MP & SP not working
ok thanks that makes sense. But if I wanted to record a movie on a VHS tape on LP so I would have room for 2 more movies later this is how LP & SP are intended to work same as I use it in this program to get a smaller file for storage and faster burn time and still acceptable quality. With 14700k I am getting 2-3 minute convert times on most movies and 1gb average file size 3-4 minute burn time. on the 64bit I got 7 minute convert time and 4gb average file size (even on LP) (unacceptable for storage reasons) and 5-7 minute burn time. Please don't take them out of the program but insteed make them work again please.

Disable [X] Best Video Quality, see if it should go faster (for you) !
*BUT* based on the video/audio stream, using the [X] Hardware Acceleration should run much faster than the 32 bits.
Add 1 move, or 2, or 3, ConvertXtoDVD will still be quite efficiant to fit 99% a DVD5 output.
I was able to convert 2 x 4K Video with complex video CODECS, and it fit perfectly.
I do have ENABLED [X] Use Best Video Quality, and most videos I have gets decoded quickly by my video card...
Happy converting !
