modified, perfected DVD Menu: black mirror

Post by cliffordzkf »

The black mirror template is the best among all of the templates in CX2DVD. However, it has below disadvantages:
1) too small puce/video thumbnail in the DVD TITLE menu;
2) no choice for background image for root menu;
3) no choice for background image for settings menu;
3) no choce for background audio for root menu;

Yes, the black mirror with video template can show some video with a mask on it in the root menu and set audio; but no choice either for background image change in the "settings menu". Besides, this template also shows smaller thumbnails in the "chapters menu". worst of all is the masque in the root menu, i think. (some people may like it, i am only expressing my own ideas.:D)

I have been working on improvement of the black mirror templates for two weeks and now it's time to share with all of you my results.

The improvements are shown in the attached picture.

if you cannot see the picture, pls download it below.

Now let's see how to use this template.

Before continue, pls be reminded that this is only for personal study and entertainment, I shall not take any responsibility if it's used for any comercial purposes. And this template works fine with me upto now, but you'd better strictly follow my instructions below, or else, any damanges to your software shall be your own responsibility. Necesary backup of the files is also suggested for you!

Step 1. Go to "C:\Program Files\VSO\ConvertX\3\templates\", copy the entire black mirror folder and paste in the same place which should be "copy of black mirror".

Step 2. Open "copy of black mirror" , delete below files:
masque3.png
masque.gif
blackmirror1_6ch.ini
blackmirror2_6ch.ini
masque-top.gif
puce.gif

Step 3. Copy below files and paste in the same folder:
masque2.gif (copy paste twice of this file)
puce2.gif

Step 4. Rename te copied files above as:
rename "copy of masque2.gif" to "masque3.png"
rename "Copy (2) of masque2.gif" to "masque.gif"
rename "Copy of puce2.gif" to "puce.gif"

Step 5. Dowload the attached file "blackmirror2_6ch.ini" and save it to "C:\Program Files\VSO\ConvertX\3\templates\copy of black mirror"

Step 6. Restart your CX2DVD and select the menu "AAA black mirror".

Finished.

Hi,
Thank you for your efforts in developing the black mirror menu!!!
I have a question:
at step 2 you ask to delete file puce2.gif
and the the step 3 to copy and paste it ?
Please advise.
Thank you again

Hi there,

Fist at all, thanks for your great wort... Black mirror is really one of the bast templates, but as noticed, it has some desavantages... so I tried your mod and I have to say, it's working well ... BUT (sorry having to say this), I have two annoying bugs in the mean menu.

Image

First one : Not only the the selected article is highlightet. (see 1)

Second one : I used only 3 files to test he modification. The "next" button appears every time. This one is still there by using a single file. (see 2)

Did I something wrong ? I dunno ...

If not, maybe you can fix this ... I'm using the lastest ConvertXtoDVD (3.3.4)

Hi 666joker666,
Second one : I used only 3 files to test he modification. The "next" button appears every time. This one is still there by using a single file. (see 2)
This is the Play button, not the next page button.
That looks different.

added:This button starts playing the movie without going first to the root menu.

Regards,
hansK
