This appears to have been corrected in build 1008. Thanks.mrr19121970 wrote:The preview shows subtitles even though they are turned off. They are also in the file that is saved. Profile PS3/720p & IPAD tested as not OK.
Update
Manually changingfrom 1033 to 0 is a workaround.Code: Select all
HKCU\Software\VSO\Blu-Ray Converter Ultimate\DefaultSubtitleTrackLCID
Is it possible to auto ajust height? In mediacoder on iPAD this is standard. The resulting 1024x768 video is then adjsuted to fit the source if needed. My my case (in Salt) this means 1024x568 (ie no black bars to & bottom)

There is a problem with subtitle selection. You select subtitle on 'source' (say no subtitle).
Issues
1) You select video profile and quality on 'settings', this reset subtitles back to English
2) During process, you stop and press 'previous step', this resets subtitles back to English
I'm not sure what the solution is, but maybe Audio and Subtitle settings belong in the 'settings' tab?
2nd Issue
In 'process', it says 8 cores are being used, but the 'time left' for a 2 hour film (720p profile) is over 5 hours. I'm sure on version 1006 it was faster.[/u] Update mencoder gives me 32fps with the same settings as BD Converter. BD Converter gives me 11pfs.

Here are the settings I used in mediacoder:
I think the only difference is the AAC is stero and a lower bitrate. I tried to match the VSO BD Convertor settings as best I could. (with 5.1 sound and 320kb/s FAAC.exe broke)
Code: Select all

Neither Blu-Ray Ultimate or Blu-Ray to DVD work with Bambi. Both try to pick up the 1h 13m (4 chapter) extras as the main movie and not 00800.mpls (26 chapters).

Re: VSO Blu-ray Converter ultimate beta (1.1.0.17)
Similar issues . . .
"The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" blu-ray - program doesn't even see or list main movie - it just lists the 8 1/2 minute collection of trailers.
I've never seen more than 1 available item listed for any source blu-ray. I thought the program could show all titles on the disc and let you choose which and how many you wanted on the output DVD? It only shows 1 available item - and it isn't necessarily the main movie.
Lastly - why do I get the same output regardless of what size I select for output? Specifically "Morning Glory" blu-ray results in a 2.5gb DVD movie output no matter what size I tell it and what MB/s rate it picks. And this is using "Best" for video quality. How can that be?

Re: VSO Blu-ray Converter ultimate beta (1.1.0.17)
Nice Program - works fine for me
But a few issues are a bit annoying:
It should be possible to overwrite also the destination filename proposals before starting the process not only the project name. I have e.g. the Star Trek TOS BluRay Series, which I want to convert to my media server. The episodes are called all the same starting with the 2nd of the list (Bonusepisode).
It looks like:
STAR_TREK_S1D1 (Episode 1)
STAR_TREK_S1D1 (Bonusepisode)
STAR_TREK_S1D1 (Bonusepisode)
STAR_TREK_S1D1 (Bonusepisode)
So I can not select all episodes at once - otherwise they will be overwritten by the process. I have to rip episode-by-episode.
Also, it is a bit annoying to de-select the subtitles episode by episode and the language is always the first in the list (e.g. Dansk).
I tried to convert to low resolution xvid without size limit (576x324) which produces usually files with the size between 550 and 650 MB which is what I expected. But there are some files with a target size of > 700 MB and one with over 1 GB. But all episodes have the same length. This bandwidth of target size is a bit surprising.
It would also be nice to be able to extract the subtitles to be external (.srt) or switchable in the target file.

Re: VSO Blu-ray Converter ultimate beta (1.2.0.0)
Nice work VSO - this could be just what I was looking for. Hopefully the following features could be implemented before release (please)?
1) Option to select more than one audio stream from source
2) Option to keep original audio stream(s) (True HD, DTS-MA) instead of encoding to AC3/320Kb. This could be implemented by letting the user decide between the following options:
- Keep original (copy bitstream)
- Extract core audio stream (in case of True HD or DTS-MA)
- Encode to 448/640 Kbit/s AC3
What I am trying to say is that I would prefer to keep the original audio streams if possible:-)
I realize certain output containers are limited to one audio stream in AAC format BUT my main concern is MKV - and this container can handle just about any stream you throw at it. My Xtreamer Sidewinder and Netgear NEO550 both play MKV with 7.1 HD audio streams nicely.
Keep up the good work guys

Re: VSO Blu-ray Converter ultimate beta (1.2.0.0)
Hi,
1) You can select more than one audio/subtitle track if you select an mkv profile. Be sure in step 2 you selected an mkv profile and go back to step 1, you will see the audio/subtitle lists are checkable and you can select all the tracks you want.
FYI :
PS3, XBOX360 & Apple profiles : You can select only one audio and only one subtitle track (merged in video)
AVI profile : All audio streams can be selected, but you can select only one subtitle track (merged in video)
MKV profile : All audio streams can be selected, same for subtitle tracks (encoded as separate DVD Subtitle tracks)
2) for DVD output profile, the original audio streams must be reencoded to be DVD compliant (like Blu-ray audio tracks have too high bitrate) BUT for all others profile types, maybe I can check if the original audio track can be copied without reencoding...
Thank you for your feedback...

Re: VSO Blu-ray Converter ultimate beta (1.2.0.0)
Hi cedric,
1) Thanks for clearing things out. Maybe it would be easier to understand if the user started by selecting his desired target profile container instead - but I can cope with going back to step 1
2) I understand the restrictions related to DVD output but afaik 448Kb/s is the limit for AC3 streams - not 320Kb/s. Anyway I might have got this wrong since I hardly ever need to convert to DVD anymore:-)
Anyway the ideal solution imho would be to copy the original HD audio tracks or let the user extract the core audio tracks from True HD and DTS-MA streams if preferred. EAC3to can do both btw (core audio extracted by using -core switch). My point is to avoid reincoding whenever possible. It saves CPU cycles and most importantly keeps audio fidelity as high as possible. If you reencode a 320Kb MP3 file to 192Kb the audio quality will degrade as well, right?
I think you got one killer app coming up. I think the quality of the CUDA accelerated H264 encodings are much better than the ones produced by DVDFab8, FreeMake Video Converter, PavTube ByteCopy and MediaCoder. Actually it's on par (or even better) with BadaBoom2 though maybe a little bit slower? Anyway I can't wait to buy a licence when the product gets released . This is one all-in-one tool I have been looking for in a loooong time.
Please let me know if I can be of any help to you. I'm no expert in regards to eac3to but I do know how to extract the original audio streams or the core audio from those streams.
Cheers,
Peter
