Hi,

Can you tell me which audio track you selected?
Maybe the problem is with DOLBY TRUE HD 7.1 track.

Can you try by selecting another audio track?

EDIT : Which output profile have you selected? (DVD, AVI, MKV...)
EDIT2 : Can you check Blu-ray Converter memory use when conversion failed?

Thanks.

The English audio track is a TrueHD track. If I select it, the conversions stops immediately. If I select only the German DD5.1 track, the conversion seems to work.

Hi,

I've tried about 20 movies with TRUE HD tracks without any problem (with last 1.2.1.10 version...)

I hope this new version will fix your problems...

Thanks!

Thanks for the new version. Unforunately, the behavior seems unchanged regarding the TrueHD track:

Hi,

Maybe the problem is with secondary video track...
I will get Shrek 4 BD tomorrow, I hope I will be able to reproduce... and fix!!!

Do you have this problem only with this movie?
Have you tried with another movie containing true hd tracks?

Thank you for all your tests!

Thanks for the great support. Unforunately I can't seem to find another BD with a TrueHD track right now. On the other hand this means indeed that no other BD made problems lately.

Hi 0xdeadbeef,

I have a good news for you, you will be able to convert Shrek 4 this week-end...
I was able to reproduce/fix your problem with Shrek 4 (3D version).

The problem was with TRUE HD 7.1 audio track, and is fixed now.

Thank you for your tests, have a nice week-end!

Why neither the BlurayConverter nor the DVDConverter profiles do not contain very useful 720x480 and 720x576 options for avi, sizes that hardware DVD+AVI players likes?
At least 720x480 and 720x576 (1:1) profiles will be useful for the DVDConverter, with no need of frame resizing...

Using version 1.4.0.1

Getting an error whil converting straight away when selecting Convert to DVD - tried all the different versions - NTSC 16:9, NTSC 4:3, PAL 16:9 and PAL 4:3

However, when using a different conversion with the same BluRay ( to Generic AVI, or IPAD or MKV ) everything works ok.

When converting to DVD I just get a pop up straight away saying "Error occurred while converting" no error number is given

I was trying to see if the forced subtitles were working.

Many thanks. eon_designs

Low CPU Usage

Just wondering why there is such a low CPU usage with Blu-Ray converter? Currently running a conversion straight from the hard drive. Using a Core i7 Processor (8 Cores) current CPU usage is only around 10-15% across all 8 cores.

If the CPU usage was higher - would the conversion take less time? and if so - how can you increase the CPU usage?

Thanks, Eon

Hi,

Low CPU usage can be explained by a lot of things.

- If CUDA decoder is enabled in settings, all decoding process will be done by graphic card GPU (and not by main processor)
- If a CUDA profile is selected (like FullHD 1080p CUDA), only the audio processing will use the main proc.
- If you are converting a Blu-ray from a disk to a low resolution profile (AVI low res or DVD output), the BD reader bandwith can be lower than conversion engine capability, and conversion process will be slowed.
- ...same thing if you are converting a backup file from HDD to same HDD, conversion can be slowed by hard disk read/write access.

Let me know if CPU usage is always low after checking these steps...

Thank you.

Thanks for the reply.

I was using CUDA enabled, so that could be part of the issue. The Blu Ray was located on one hard drive and encoding to a different drive.

I'll try again with CUDA disabled and see if the CPU usage increases.

Also, not able to get the forced subtitles to work at all. I know that it is still in beta. Tried a few variations and all don't seem to produce the forced subs:

1. Tried just ticking forced subs in the advanced menu
2. Tried ticking forced subs in the advanced menu and selecting one on the subtitles in the main menu
3. Tried ticking forced subs in the advanced menu and the add additional subs as well as selecting one of the subtitles in the main menu

Unfortunately none of these seem to work. I was using the profile convert to DVD NTSC 16:9

Thanks. Eon.

Forced subtitles feature only works for single file profiles (AVI, MKV, MP4...)
Like we are working on new DVD engine, I will add this feature when this new engine will be ready...

Thank you!

Thanks for the reply Cedric

Did a few more tests:

CUDA off in Advanced Menu with Converting to DVD profile 16:9 - CPU usage still low - 18% to 20%

When choosing the MKV profile things change a little bit:

1. MKV(720p) H264 = 75%-80% CPU usage and a frame rate conversion of around 30fps
2. MKV(720p) H264 CUDA = 25%-30% CPU usage and a frame rate conversion of around 50fps
3. MKV(720p) H264 *HQ* = 50% CPU usage and a frame rate conversion of around 18fps

there does not seem to be any difference if the use CUDA is ticked or not in the advanced menu.

Also noted that the disable preview button is only available when a subtitle track has been selected in the main menu. If no subtitle is selected (ticked) then the disable preview button is not shown.

What is the difference between the different profiles:
MKV(720p)H264 and MKV(720p)H264*HQ*? and does the CUDA profile use the HQ?

Running a conversion with forced subs to see what happens - will report back

Thanks. Eon

Hi,

I think CUDA decoder speed is limited by NVidia to limit GPU overheat. They should have limited the decoding speed to decode an HD movie in real time, but no more.
That's why CUDA decoding option is only usefull for slow computer, not for your case...

Like MPEG2 encoding doesn't need a lot of CPU time, I'm not surprised by your CPU usage on a fast machine like yours.
How long take a conversion from Blu-ray to DVD on your computer? How long take a Blu-ray copy from your source drive to your target drive?

I know the preview button must be always displayed, I just need to found a place for it.

For forced subtitle feature, don't forget to select the forced subtitle language in advanced settings (in Video processing tab)
If you select an output format supporting multiple subtitle tracks (like MKV), a forced subtitle track will be added on output,
but if you select an output format not supporting subtitle tracks (AVI, MP4... where subtitles are merged in video), you must unselect all subtitle tracks in list to enable the forced subtitle track.

Thanks.

Converting to a DVD takes on average about 1hr

Converting to MKV Using the MKV(720p)H264 CUDA takes on averabe about 1hr 10 mins

Converting to MKV Using the MKV(720p)H264 takes on average about 2.5 hrs and using the *HQ* profile takes over 4hrs

It takes about 1hr to copy a Blu-Ray to my source Drive.

Is there any possibility of having the option to merge the forced subtitles into the video when selecting the MKV profile.

Thanks. Eon
