Blu-Ray to DVD True HD 5.1 error
"An error occured while converting"
version 2.1.1.6
Prior to encoding, the preview of the movie plays fine and the sound also is fine within the program.
During the actual encode, the video preview also plays fine.
The error happens after it has completed the movie. Looking at the preview window as it is still processing, it happens when i guess it is creating chapters or something but like i said it does at least complete going through the movie [beginning to end] and i then get the error during the processing afterwards like the chapters or menu.
After a bunch of tests, i was able to determine that this version just doesn't like AC-3 TrueHD/5.1 because i can encode with no problems if i set the audio to AC-3/2 however that would just leave me with commentary audio and not the actual movie's audio.
I can only guess that there is an issue with this version because i can encode the very same blu-ray with no problems using versions 1.4.0.7 or 1.4.0.8, tested.
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (Build 2600), AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+, 3214.9 MHz, 16.0 x 200.9 MHz, not overclocked, NVIDIA nForce 570 M2N-SLI DELUXE motherboard, kingston DDR2 memory 4 x 1024 dual channel, 2 NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS SLI vid cards in SLI mode, DirectX Version 9.0c, Audio Card is Creative Labs PCIe SB X-FI Titanium w/ Driver Version 2.17.8

Re: Blu-Ray to DVD True HD 5.1 error
You can not use TrueHD on DVD, it is not supported on DVD.

i never mentioned an error with TrueHD on DVD, rather the conversion of it within VSO.JJ wrote:You can not use TrueHD on DVD, it is not supported on DVD.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolby_TrueHD
as mentioned, versions 1.4.0.7 AND 1.4.0.8 converted it with NO errors.
i can play BOTH outputs in PowerDVD with no problems.
as an additional test using ImgBurn set to Build mode, i was able to burn a copy from the VSO version 1.4.0.8 output to a DVD9 disc using a Verbatim DVD+R DL disc and it played fine in my stand-alone dvd players with an audio of 5.1 as expected in my 6channel surround sound speakers....tested in a Toshiba DVD Player SD7300 and also on a Toshiba Blu-ray Player BDX1200KU
here is a screen-shot info within my PowerDVD as an example to show the input audio and the conversion output audio.

obviously something has changed from VSO Blu-ray Ultimate version 1.XXX to version2.XXX :)
if you have similar versions of VSO, i can provide you a link for you to test the bluray .iso file yourself. :)
Re: Blu-Ray to DVD True HD 5.1 error
I have not tested this; but it is possible that previous versions were not properly checking audio format when converting to DVD and they just muxed TrueHD tracks to DVD. These DVDs will not play sound on any older DVD player, nor any DVD player that does not have "extras" in it.
You can play it fine with software player, and most BR players.
Still it should not be allowed, and might be that VSO realized that conversion like that breaks standard rules and prevented it.

Re: Blu-Ray to DVD True HD 5.1 error
because you have not tested this and have only offered possible explanations and maybe's over why this is, is it still considered *solved*?
standared rules? ...in reference to HDCP or something?
can you fwd this to the programmers or should i just stick with version 1.xxxx ?
i appreciate your replies.

Re: Blu-Ray to DVD True HD 5.1 error
Hello Cedric, I tried it a couple days ago with 2.1.1.13 and i did not get any errors, thanks.
HOWEVER the filesize for the Video_TS folder is only 2.30Gb even though the movie is fully complete and tested.
For 2.1.1.13, I noticed that the Menu does not have any sound and if I move my cursor over the Settings, Chapters or the Play symbols they don't turn green in my PowerDVD. Refer to the cursor over the Play button ---> http://www.pixhost.org/show/4110/143352 ... 1-1-13.gif . However the buttons do work. Notice the missing audio info in that pic.
Here's info for the movie which, as mentioned, is complete but at an unusually small folder size however the video quality does not appear to be too bad and the 5.1 audio output sounds great but still strange why it would be only 2.30Gb when i set the encode for DVD9 8.5 Limitation: http://www.pixhost.org/show/2667/143352 ... 1-1-13.gif . Please note that in that pic, the Audio is listed as Dolby Digital Karaoke 5.1 448Kbps which i thought strange.
Also, I would have thought that it would try to maximize the dvd9 to it's fullest potential whilst remaining within the limitations instead of a 2.30Gb folder?
In the Advanced Settings for 2.1.1.13, i left everything at default except for the output folder location. Is there anything i should have changed in the Advanced Settings / Video tab?
Here's a pic during the encode process: http://www.pixhost.org/show/4110/143353 ... 1-1-13.gif
I only selected 1 Audio which is English - AC-3 True HD - Multi - 48 khz and 1 Subtitle, English. And no bonus tracks selected.
Here is the log file, refer to Uploaded Attachment: I tried DVD NTSC 16/9 and also 4/3 with the same result. The 4/3 however produced a 2.19Gb folder.
Under version 1.4.0.8, i produced a 5.89Gb folder for DVD NTSC 16/9 and a 5.37Gb for 4/3. And keeping the other settings the same as in 2.1.1.13 for Audio and Subtitle.
For 1.4.0.8, i do have sound for the Menu, unlike in 2.1.1.13 as earlier mentioned, and also the buttons do turn green if i place the cursor over it, unlike in 2.1.1.13 as earlier mentioned: http://www.pixhost.org/show/2670/143457 ... -4-0-8.gif
Notice that instead of Dolby Digital Karaoke 5.1 448 Kbps for 2.1.1.13, it shows as Dolby Digital 2.0 192 Kbps for 1.4.0.8. Why it wouldn't go higher than 192, i don't know but it would have been a nice option if i wanted to increase that setting within VSO.
Here is a pic of the movie using 1.4.0.8, at the same time frame of 00:01:50 .... http://www.pixhost.org/show/1694/143458 ... -4-0-8.gif . Notice the Video bitrate in this one versus the bitrate as shown earlier in 2.1.1.13
Here is the log file for 1.4.0.8, As far as the differences in folder size between 1.4.0.8 and 2.1.1.13 are concerned, i can only guess that the variable bitrate for both audio and video is at a lower setting in 2.1.1.13
Compared to 1.4.0.8, i do favor the more options you have in 2.1.1.13 in the Advanced Settings like 2pass and such but i chose to keep everything at default for my testings.

Re: Blu-Ray to DVD True HD 5.1 error
Hello todd12,
I will work on bitrate computation for DVD output profile to optimize it.
This fix will be available on next version...
Thank you for your feedback...

Re: Blu-Ray to DVD True HD 5.1 error
thanks Cedric. :)
just an update, i also tried 2.1.1.14 and received the same issues as in 2.1.1.13
again, the resulting folder was low in filesize, 2.59Gb
also issues with the menu as in 2.1.1.13, it has no sound and i can not even access the Settings, Chapters, Play buttons
when i put my cursor over them, the menu ignores the cursor thus i can not even do anything. http://www.pixhost.org/show/1714/144249 ... 1-1-14.gif
thus so far, the 1.X version works for the menu and the movie but 2.X has issues with the menu and a small filesize

Re: Blu-Ray to DVD True HD 5.1 error
Cedric, i was able to access the movie
as mentioned, the cursor doesn't work.
what i had to do was move the cursor up even higher for the menu to recognize it! strange!
also the same with the Settings and Chapters
here's a pic along with the menu info, as you see there is no audio. http://www.pixhost.org/show/4132/144250 ... update.gif
also, notice how high the cursor needed to be placed in order for the menu to recognize it.
here's a pic for the movie, http://www.pixhost.org/show/4132/144250 ... 1-1-14.gif
like with 2.1.1.13, the audio for the actual movie sounds great in 5.1 and the video isn't too bad looking.
any reason why the menu is having issues in 2.X ?

Re: Blu-Ray to DVD True HD 5.1 error
Cedric, just an update..... tried it also with the bluray Prometheus, same result of low filesize folder and menu glitchy as before.
Re: Blu-Ray to DVD True HD 5.1 error
Cedric, another update.
thinking it might be an issue with the .iso file over the earlier mentioned movies, i tried it with the actual and personal bluray of Star Trek XI [2009] and got a size of 3.39Gb
same issue with the Menu and filesize..... audio is great and video not too bad.
initially, i tried loading the disc directly from my drive into Blu-Ray Converter Ultimate 2.1.1.14 via Open Blu-ray / Load from disc
but i received the error of: http://www.pixhost.org/show/3788/14464321_snap14.gif
i have AnyDVD HD installed and i can play the movie in PowerDVD but it wouldn't load in VSO
i had to use AnyDVD HD to rip the image to .iso before loading it into VSO.
it is normal i guess for it's protection?

Re: Blu-Ray to DVD True HD 5.1 error
version 2.1.1.24 has been posted, please see if it corrects the problems you faced.
Re: Blu-Ray to DVD True HD 5.1 error
apologies for late reply, will do asap.
the latest i have is 2.1.1.20 and the last i recall with it was still a couple of issues as above mentioned including filesize, will try to upgrade and examine when i have time as i've noticed what the reported updates with newer versions have to offer.
i've been busy in real life.
