In addition, when selecting Audio channel CBR bit rate for a profile still shows typo 120 Kbs instead of 112 Kbs would be nice if could also have a selection for 128

Audio problem was related to internal audio processing bug, not bitrate.

Under the profiles settings under Audio when you drop down to select the Audio channel bit rate you have 6 selections to choose from they are 16, 32, 64, 80, 96 & 120 the 120 is actullay 112 Kbs (when I went to school for 8 to 16 bit theory the next 16 bit rate after 96 is 112 not 120.
In addition, the hightest K bit rate able to select under the Audio setting is 112 if poss can you add a 128 Kbs setting.
Re CBR I assumed as for the how fast the encoding was that you were using CBR but checked a conversion again and shows variable bit rate .

@Budda_357 : I fixed your problems with Xvid codec and AVI custom profile (the xVid is now selected when reopenning the editor, and the converted file use Xvid codec).

- I worked around 3gp container for custom profile editor: lower audio bitrates and lower audio samplerates are available now.
Lower video framerates are available too.

The value you select in list is not a global audio bitrate, but a BITRATE BY CHANNEL. That mean if you select 64Kbits/s in list and you convert a stereo file, the final file will have a 128Kbit/s audio bitrate.
I choosen this way for audio bitrate because if I used global bitrate setting, choosing 128Kbit/s value (for example) will not give same result/quality for a mono (will give 128Kbit/s by channel) or a 6 channels file (will give ~21Kbit/s by channel).
So I added 128Kbit/s bitrate value but I don't think it's an usefull value...

the final file size is related to video bitrate. By default Video Converter select a video bitrate giving a good size/quality ratio, but if your priority is the filesize, you need to decrease the video bitrate (like explained in my post)

Have installed V1.0.0.9 in created profiles the mp3 Audio channel bit rate now all of the available options display as Hz and and they are being displayed same as sample rates options i.e. 8000Hz to 48000Hz

Hi, i've tried version 1.1.0.10. Is there some sort of header stripping happening ? I've converted any MP4 to MKV but the program I use to author the new MKV cant determine the framerate properly, if I pass the file through MKVMerge it fixes it (but I don't want to have to do this all the time as it can take a while on big files and use a lot of hard drive space).

The main reason I want this for is to convert my MP4's to watch on my old Panasonic Viera TV. I need to use a program called MultiAVCHD to create the strict file structure needed but the encoding is very slow, so I use your program to encode to MKV and then pass it through MultiAVCHD to create the Bluray file structure (without re-encoding), but as I said above, it doesn't detect the frame rate properly so it can't time-stretch the audio to PAL framerate. Again, as I said above, it works if I pass the encoded file through MKVMerge.

Your converter is great by the way.

PS. Cancelling a project of many files part way through and then selecting clean up partially converted file deletes everything in the folder.

Yes, I can import the newly created MKV (29.9fps) into MultiAVCHD, but when I click start and choose the Panasonic Viera PAL 50Hz profile it says the file has no framerate info and keeps the audio the same (normally it time-stretches the audio to fit PAL length). It works correctly if I pass the encoded file through MKVMerge first.

Regarding the cancelling of partly completed projects, if for example you import 5 files to convert but cancel it after it's converted 3 (then it asks if you want to delete the partially converted file) it deletes them all. Do you say it's supposed to do that ?

I don't have "Panasonic Viera PAL 50Hz" profile in my list, maybe it's an external profile you imported, can you post it?
I tried some other profiles and it seems frame rate is properly detected.
Why you don't create your own mkv custom profile to produce a PAL (25fps) file directly?
Have you tried to convert to another format (like mp4) then import the file in multiAVCHD?

I thought if an user canceled a conversion, that mean he don't want to keep all the files from this session (and plan to restart it after changing some settings/conversion profile).
You're right, the question after conversion canceling is not really adapted.

In multiAVCHD v4.1 build 771, after importing the encoded file I click the start button and in the window that pops up I click 'TV/Camcoder (PAL/50Hz)'.

If I convert a 29.9fps file to 25fps I get anoying little stutters when the picture moves (because of the changed framerate). I don't really want to convert it to mp4 because multiAVCHD processes files to MKV before starting, thats why I use your program to convert to MKV (at the same framerate 29.9fps) then let multiAVCHD convert the file to the Bluray structure for my Panasonic PAL TV (without re-encoding) and let it time-stretch the audio to PAL.

It works if I run the file through MKVMerge first, so what does the program MKVMerge add to the file to make multiAVCHD detect everything ? (I don't want to have to do this every time as a 10+ gig file takes a while to save and uses double the space which defeats my objective).

I also tried your program to convert a file to AVCHD .mts format but then multiAVCHD couldn't even detect the video track properly and fails, that's why I thought there is some sort of header stripping (that MKVMerge seems to repair).

EDIT:
MultiAVCHD seems to work the way it should with files that are converted (using your converter) at 23.9fps but NOT 29.9fps. I'll give up on this one I think. Thanks for your help though.

Also, how do you properly use the Audio Compresser Filter ? Is it supposed to normalize the audio like the program AACGain ? What is the suggested setting ? I tried setting it at 80%, it sounded OK but now and then it would get really loud and then lower again. Is it supposed to normalize to a peak setting without clipping ?

Is there any chance you could improve the Audio Compressor please. No matter what percentage I set it to, every so often the volume gets really loud and then quietens down again, it makes you jump and sounds worse than the original. I thought it was supposed to set a peak value so really loud sounds are reduced and quieter sounds are increased ? It doesn't sound anything like that to me. I noticed other people have commented on this as well. It's a really useful feature if it would work better. Hopefully you can find the time. Thanks.

Version 1.1.0.18 has problems with some audioformats and crashes while initializing.
Profile is copying audio and converting video to make it smaller.

Thank you for your feedback.
I don't think the problem appeared in 1.1.0.18 because PCM Blu-ray audio format is not allowed in matroska container...
Will check what I can do to remux (or reencode...) PCM Blu-ray audio in MKV container.

Converting to BR does not give size selection - most BR discs are single layer with 25GB max.
I just converted 34 TV series episodes to 720p, each 25 minutes.
End result was 31GB and of course did not allow burning to 25GB BD-RE.

Can DVD-resolutions be added to Blu-Ray profiles, as there is no use to convert old low-resolution 4:3 TV series to HD or FullHD?

You are right and it has just been added in 1.1.0.21 in the general settings you can set the output size for HD outputs. (integration still being fixed http://bugs.vso-software.fr/view.php?id=7287)

I thought it didn't make much sense to convert SD to HD, but some users are doing this and prefer our resize method which is giving a cleaner result and than letting their DVD or TV player do the resize themselves when reading original DVD file.

That is true in most cases. But it also uses lot more space, and when original is low quality it can't really be improved, so I prefer keeping resolution and filesize down with these files.
