I built an HTPC to play back all my dvd's in iso format. My system is an i5 3570k cpu with a gtx 650 ti boost graphics card running on Windows 8. My issue is with regular dvd's and not blu ray's. VSO media player plays blu rays perfectly but not the dvd's. When I built the system I originally tried to play the dvd's with no graphics card and used the proprietor one on the motherboard. That did not work, very choppy and stopped once in a while. So I installed the gtx 650 which helped out considerably but every once in a while you still get some choppy playback, sound is perfect. I have two other computers one with a gtx 660 and the other with a gtx 670. I was going to try the 660 but I watched a blu ray movie last night with no issues at all.
What should I do to overcome the choppy video?
How to fix choppy video during playback

Re: How to fix choppy video during playback
Hi,
Thanks for the feedback.
Two questions:
- Have you activated hardware acceleration in the advanced settings menu?
- Do you have AnyDVD or a similar program running in the background? The fact that you're able to watch a Blu-Ray smoothly makes me thing that there is maybe a protection issue on youre DVDs.
Best regards,
Felicià

Another question. Are you using Windows 8 or 8.1?
