MPEG-1/VCD

I'm a pleased-owner of an early version of ConvertXtoDVD5.

But I'm not writing about that ...

I'm evaluating DVD Converter 3, and I see that it does not permit the conversion of video files to the MPEG-1 format.

This isn't right. Or, *I* don't think that it's right. Doubtless, most forum members wouldn't agree with me. Granted, in the US it's mostly obsolete. THIS ISN'T TRUE overseas, tho', and I spend a lot of my time there. VideoCD's, VCD's, are still mighty popular in Asia, in the Orient. So ... allowing one to select 'MPEG-1' and/or 'VCD' (with control over 'the usual' - video Kbits, audio kbits, screen size, audio characteristics, and so forth ... that'd be good, at least for me.

GIVEN, THEN, that it *isn't* right, could you 'do something' about it?

Failing that, perhaps you have an 'early version' that includes this obvious and historic format?

I haven't looked-at this Forum for several months ... but I don't see any mention of "MPEG-1/VCD coverage". Have I missed it? - still need it - need to be able to convert to VideoCD. Thanks.

Hello User,

Super Video CD is supported by ConvertXtoDVD, but not by default. Video CD is not. In order to meet Super Video CD's requirements, you will have to adjust the project size, resolution, and audio (you would have to use the MPEG stereo).

'Super VCD', it's a mighty-good format, yes. Not what I want, tho'.

I could find - there are a lot of them! - I could find 'DVD2VCD converters. They're out there, sure.

BUT WHAT I LIKE ABOUT VSO'S SOFTWARE is the wide range of - what are they called? - 'settings' such that one may change the texture, the color, of the resultant converted image. Don't know what the right word is. But there are about, oh, 12 or so settings such that - and I've tested them! - such that the converted video 'looks just a little bit different' and 'converts a little bit faster/slower'.

THIS, I regard as 'a good thing'.

But I use VideoCD's, and the .DAT files of VCD's. Not SuperVCD (good format, tho', very good!).

Cedric; while you are at it; how about adding CDG support to any converter, best would be VideoConverter?
Request is on bug site, has been forever now and basically CD+G is VCD.

Don't loose your time by searching your sample file (or just to test it in last version...)

Feature request implemented, installer rebuilt and uploaded...

PS: you need to import the .cdg file in Video converter. If an .mp3 file with same name is found, it will be loaded/associated to.

Tried loading .cdg in video converter and it works, great job!

Just a little thing ... many mp3s have some offset, usually those files are karaoke and they first show song title with logo for some time before music starts.

Now VideoConverter starts rolling lyrics too early, leaving music a few beats behind. Should not be a big issue, I have examples of files that seem to play just fine and those that are off, I can upload them if needed.

Otherwise - really great addition, I have been waiting LONG time for this.
I suppose that there is more users that might have some use for this, creating their own karaoke DVD with several hundred songs on it.

Thanks to you to requesting this feature, i think it can be usefull for many users...

You can add stream offset in video editor by using time offset value (or something like that...)
Open video editor (advanced edition...), click on the video track to open the video parameters editor then change the offset to have good audio/video sync then save.

Cedric; thanks for instructions, but as biggest use for this feature is to add hundreds of karaoke CDGs to one DVD/BR it is not practical to manually check each file for offset. Specially when that offset is on those files, they play perfectly with VLC. Actually - can you change offset for merged files?

Uploading to ftp a zip with mp3/cdg that shows even in preview few seconds off.
I tried to convert that to DVD and got black screen with sound...
