Fresh yes. Clean no. However I never had any problems before, installing over a previous installation.
I have again uninstalled the converter and installed it again. Still not converting MKV files. It just freezes.
My OS is WinXP Pro

At what point it freezes?
I just tried to convert mkv to BR 576P - with all hardware settings off, no problems. With all hardware settings on - no problems on conversion.

Hello Coral,

Have you tried on a more recent OS, such as Windows 7 or 8?

I get the freezup a second or two after the conversion begins. The problem only appears to be with MKV. No problems with the previous version 1.2.0.15. There is no application icon too. And the thumbnail only appears when the conversion begins. At the moment I would rarther stick to WinXP on both my machines. Since I have very good video capturing hardware which will not work well on Win7

You can use XP on machines that are not connected to internet as long as you want. At some point some apps will stop working due some changes Microsoft makes on required libraries, but until then it should be ok.

But this problem of yours seems really odd. What are you exactly converting?
Source x to mkv x?

I tried converting mkv to MPG2-TS, MPG2-PS, NTSC DVD.
No problems at all.
You get this with any mkv?

I have a couple of MKV clips which I use for testing and both of them produce the same problem. Both these clips happen to be NTSC 23.98 fps. See MediaInfo property file. I have noticed that when I have edited a coustom profile to NTSC it is saved with PAL frame rate.
See image.

Can you give more details, like what is your output exactly?
Custom - what is on each stage of setup?

I think it is best to post the MKV files for inspection. These are my profile settings:

Yes, you should try other files as that config is one of those that I tried and it worked.

Thans JJ for your interest.

I tried other MKV files with a different resolution (lower) and had no problems. What I can't understand is, while version 1.2.0.16 will not convert the problematic MKV files other versions of the converter worked without problems.

Perhaps the best thing is to upload the files for Cedric to have a look at them. For this I require link to the VSO uploader application.

Hello Coral,

Have you tried reorganizing/cleaning the MKV file with MKVToolnix/MKVmerge? If not, it's a great tool to do so, and it may also get rid of many errors since many programs don't update their MKV requirements.

Thanks for reading,
Neil M
