VSO settings for Conversion to AVI ...

Post by Ghost_Of_Dos »

Would like to know what the "default" settings are for converting a file to AVI format in VSO downloader. Also, What output do I get (avi) and can I change the output settings?

Currently, all the videos converted by VSO Downloader will not play on my portable player. What I need is -- h.264 - Audio MP3 / Video AVI - Resolution 320x240. Portable Player is a Cowon S9. At the current time, I am downloading videos and having them (automatically) convert to AVI format after download - via VSO downloader. The files will play fine on the computer, (I'm using - JetAudio 8.1.1 Player on Windows 7 64) but not on the portable player. I may have to convert all these videos a second time? If so, I might as well stop VSO downloader from converting them to AVI and do so (convert them) outside of VSO downloader. No sense taking all that time to convert them, if they are not going to work / play on the S9.

Thanks!

Hello,

Read one of the converted files with VLC and click on Tools/ information on the codecs and you will see the settings the AVI conversion profile is using.

What I suggest is using VSO Converter instead. Actually download the beta version here
http://forums.vso-software.fr/latest-be ... 17957.html

Go to great a custom profile, and actually "get profile a sample file" and open one of the files you already have played on your Cowon S9. You will then learn what you need. You can either create the profile and convert your files with VSO Converter, or see if other profiles in VSO Downloader convert to similar settings.

Thanks Claire ...

I may download the beta and give it a go. I'm currently using version V 4.0.0.19 - vso downloader. I use JetAudio 8.1.1 plus to play audio / video. All videos that have been converted by vso downloader v 4.0.0.19, just crashes JetAudio player when trying to play them. (those converted using standard setting - Generic AVI-H264 in the downloader.) This didn't happen with 3+ versions. They (videos) wouldn't play on the S9, but they always played fine in JetAudio. I wonder if conversion to AVI-H264 is broke in vso downloader - V 4.0.0.19?

Hello Ghost_Of_Dos,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but JetAudio is an outdated software, and I believe isn't getting any more updates. Try playing your video files with VLC Media Player and see if it crashes.

Thanks for reading,

Jetaudio plus is still being updated .. You can look at the download section of the site.
Jetaudio 8.1.1 is new - Look at - "What's New" on the right side of the page at
http://www.jetaudio.com/

I'll try VLC player and see what happens.

I'm also going to check video drivers & reinstall JetAudio.

If you install media info (freeware that shows details of video files - like the codecs used), it could be interesting to open a file converted by V3 and a file converted by V4, and see what the difference is.

Maybe that will help us see where the problem could be and why the conversions done with the new version are not playing.
