BluRay-Structure: Customize Framerate NOT possible!?

Post by mue.mat »

Hello
When I'm using "Output format" --> "Custom Profiles", and I wanna have 720p BluRay structure, I put "Video framerate" --> "Same as Source (if compatible)". I tried several movies to convert with a framerate of 25 oder 30, but output framerate every time is 23,97.
I don't understand why input framerate never is output framerate, actually it sould be because the settings are video framerate same as source.
Does all that mean that BluRay structure only allows framerate of 23,97?
Thanks for answer and kind regards

Hello mue.mat,

That is the framerate of Blu-Ray movies, 23.976 fps.

Thanks for reading,

Thanks for quick answer.
So that means even when I have a 720p movie with 25 framerate or even worse 30 framerate (some asian web movies) and I want the movie to convert with bluray structure, the movie will have 23,97 framerate!?
This is a pitty because like that the converted movie isn't "smooth" to watch with bluray player and eyes can see slight "stuttering" because framerate has been reduced.
I would highly appreciate if output framerate could be like input framerate.
Thanks for answer, also for nice VSO video converter.

Here are allowed (possible) resolutions and frame rates for BluRay:

Resolution Frame rate Aspect ratio
1920×1080 60i 16:9
1920×1080 50i 16:9
1920×1080 24p 16:9
1920×1080 23.976p 16:9
1440×1080 60i 16:9
1440×1080 50i 16:9
1440×1080 24p 16:9
1280×720 60p (59.94p) 16:9
1280×720 50p 16:9
1280×720 24p 16:9
720×480 60i 4:3 or 16:9
720×576 50i 4:3 or 16:9

If some of these is not possible, then VSO has left it out for some reason. Personally I would not even consider ANY interlaced FR, progressive quality is so much better.

Thanks for quick answer; I appreciate have patience with me.

But the problem is:
The possible resolutions and frame rates for BluRay (for example: 1280×720 50p 16:9) I know because other converters offer this possibilites converting a file to BluRay structure.
But I like very much VSO Video Converter because it's easy to use und quality is outstanding. So I tried to get above mentioned possible resolutions and frame rates as well with VSO Video Converter. But I don't succeed. Every time I put in settings the output format to "BluRay structure", the program only offers me 3 choices for possible framerates:
1. "Same as source" (if compatible)
2. 24
3. 24000/1001

How can I choose with VSO video converter other frame rates (like 24 or 50 or 59,94) for BluRay structure as page 18 of your mentioned reference tells?

I tried out several movies with framerates unlike 23,97, but "same as source" oder "24" NEVER comes out in output format, not one single movie.
I must have as output format BluRay structure to burn directly to BluRay disc.
All the different framerates are in VSO Video Converter only possible when I convert the movie to a single file (for example mkv).

Thanks a lot for your help.

There is no such standard - 30P does not exist in BluRay.

Hello

I've just tried out new version 1.5.0.10
Unfortunately framerates with BluRay structure are still not working properly:

When I'm using "Output format" --> "Custom Profiles", and I wanna have 720p BluRay structure, I put "Video framerate" --> "50" or "60". I tried several movies to convert with a framerate of 50 oder 60, but when I SAVE my wanted "Output format", there are happening 2 mistakes:
1. Saved "Output format" doesn't "keep" the framerate 50 (or 60) which I put in "Video framerate". Framerate goes autamatically back to 23,97.
2. I set "Video Codec" to "copy...if possible, otherwise "H.264 720p" with "Video resulution 1280x720p" and "16:9" aspect ratio. Saved "Output format" doesn't "keep" the wanted "Video Codec". It goes autamatically to "H.264 1080p" even if original Video Codec is 720p. This mistake even happens in former versions of VSO Video Converter.

So, unfortunately it still isn't possible to have a movie with 720p BluRay structure and framerates with 24p, 50p oder 60p.
Will it be soon possible to fix this bug? I should appreciate very much.
Thanks for answer and kind regards

Is there any hope that adjusting framerate soon will be possible?
