Hi,
I'm just ripping some old music DVD videos (DVD9, 720x576, 4:3) which I want to play with the DJ software Serato DJ with Serato Video.
In VSO Video Converter (1.5.0.10) when I rip it only converts to AC3:
Here the mediainfo info from the ripped file with VSO:
Audio
ID : 2
Format : AC-3
Format/Info : Audio Coding 3
Mode extension : CM (complete main)
Format settings, Endianness : Big
Codec ID : ac-3
Duration : 5mn 2s
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 192 Kbps
Channel(s) : 2 channels
Channel positions : Front: L R
Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
Bit depth : 16 bits
Compression mode : Lossy
Stream size : 6.92 MiB (10%)
Serato does not support AC3 - finally NO audio. Beside that 192kbps isn't a good audio quality in a big club!
When I rip it with Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate 7.4.1 I am able to select the audio format:
Audio
ID : 2
Format : AAC
Format/Info : Advanced Audio Codec
Format profile : LC
Codec ID : 40
Duration : 21s 896ms
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 192 Kbps
Channel(s) : 2 channels
Channel positions : Front: L R
Sampling rate : 44.1 KHz
Compression mode : Lossy
Stream size : 513 KiB (8%)
Language : English
(although selected more than 192 - WS does not more than 192).
How can I select another audio format (AAC) with the highest possible audio rate (for djing in big clubs) when I rip the DVD's into MP4/mpeg4 ?
I don't want to convert again after ripping (how to? what's the best solution?) - I want to avoid any additional time consuming tasks in my daily workflow ... insert DVD or BR => click => rip as I want.
I really want to prefer VSO instead of WS ...
btw: The audio drop down shows "und" and below "unspecified (pcm_s16be main audio 2 Ch, 48001 Hz, 1536 Kbps)" .. (48001 Hz?).
Thanks a lot for the help!

Hello,
Have you tried creating a custom profile?

Re: Only AC3 audio when ripping DVD to MP4/mpeg4 - missing A
Thanks a lot - never saw this. :-)
But I've choosen AAC and 384 kbps and saved a custom profile, but after ripping mediainfo and Serato only show 127 kbps:
Audio
ID : 2
Format : AAC
Format/Info : Advanced Audio Codec
Format profile : LC
Codec ID : 40
Duration : 5mn 2s
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 127 Kbps
Channel(s) : 2 channels
Channel positions : Front: L R
Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
Compression mode : Lossy
Stream size : 4.59 MiB (5%)
Why not 384 kbps?
Wondershare above shows at least 192 Kbps.
I also tried 1536 kbps - but a max. of 127 kbps will be stored.
Is this a bug? Or what is wrong?
It would be also great if we could use ALAC (Apple Lossless) in MP4. Of course I can hear no difference between 384 AAC and ALAC but I want to use ALAC for "archiving" (best quality).

I had a look at my VSO Video Converter and I did not see the option to select AAC as a container what container are you using.
Dark style for VSO Software Forum:

Select "output format" on the right, dropdown, thermalzombie wrote:what container are you using.
select "custom profile", select "click here to add a custom profile" (or select the blue icon of a previous created custom profile to edit it).
In step 1 - file format - select file format (container) "MP4 Video"
in step 2 - video codec - select "MPEG-4 video"
in step 2 - video resolution "same as source"
in step 2 - video frame rate "same as source"
in step 3 - audio codec, selecte "AAC" .... here I'm missing ALAC .. a lossless audio format!
and
in step 3 - audio bit rate I select 384000 or 1536000 -
but a maximum of 127 kbps AAC will be created.
Finally:
- Feature request: Missing audio codec ALAC
- Bug: audio bit rate is max 127 kbps for AAC
Next release? ;-)
I want to rip the music video DVD's with best possible audio for archiving.
