So will this work regardless of how many simultaneous encodes I have set ?
Yes, they are independent settings
I only have 1 clip encoding at the same time as I think it's pointless having more.
It's only useless if your CPU is not running at 100% when encoding 1 title...
So if I have 4 cores (Dual Core, Hyperthreading), it will set 8 threads ?
Yes.

Nope, setting Cores in options to 5,6,7 or 8 makes no improvement at all.

Same Clip

Handbrake (X264 Threads=6 (MediaInfo))
1 minute 19 seconds (89 FPS Average)

CXV
2 minutes 32 seconds (44 FPS)

If I set the same clip encoding twice (2 simultaneous encodes), I get 22 fps each.

Hello windale,

Can you please send us your test file using our ftp tranfer tool:
http://download2.vso-software.fr/other/ ... tFiles.exe

I will investigate more why Handbrake is faster than ConvertXtoVideo.

Thank you!

I have a very, very slow upload speed.

It's about twice as slow as Handbrake on every file.

CXV Output Settings

MP4 H264
Very Fast Preset
High 4.1
CRF 20

Handbrake Output Settings
MP4 H264
Constant Framerate
Very Fast Preset

CRF 20

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Handbrake

MP4 720p (3m 13s)

CXV
1m 43s @ 46fps
Handbrake

Can you try by disabling all audio tracks in both programs (convert video only)?

Or maybe you can try the conversion using this test file:
http://oasis.vso-software.fr/Cedric/CUD ... _birds.mkv
There's no audio track (and is very helpfull to compare video quality)

Thank you

I don't know how to convert Video Only in CXV Custom Profile.

The Birds Clip (you posted) 110mb

CXV
42 seconds @ 12fps (Overall Bitrate 6,191 Kbps) - Final Size 16.7mb ??

Handbrake
28 seconds @ 19fps (Avg) (overall Bitrate 37.4 Mbps) - Final Size 103mb

---------------------------------------------

Something I noticed in your log file versus Handbrake MediaInfo when using the Very Fast Preset.

CXV
me_method=epzs

Handbrake
me=hex

I can't understand most of the options in your log file as they look different to Handbrake's.

I hope you're still working on the speed ? It's now slower.

51 seconds @ 10 fps (and now MediaInfo has gone back to saying 3 Reference Frames), lol.

And we now have to manually install DVD43 before CXV even works. (Maybe you should write this in the New Beta post.)

I take it you haven't got the programming skill to fix this ? You asked me to test so you can sort out the slow encoding speed and now you've completely forgotten about it again. MediaInfo always says 3 reference frames now even if I manually set the reference frames, your log file says 'Motion estimation=epzs' on veryfast preset (it should be hex) and even if I manually set it to 'hex' the log file still says 'epzs'. Who knows what other settings are being wrongly set. I think you should scrap the Custom Profile and start again. Thanks.

windale - do you really expect that VSO is working only to please you and your requests?
Do you expect them to work during holidays?
Do you think that insulting anyone is helping you at all?

You should seriously check your attitude before posting anything else.

Just because I posted today doesn't mean I expect an answer today does it ? He'll see the post the next time he log's on whenever that may be, and no I don't expect them to please just me and my requests. I posted because he hasn't answered this thread in 4 days and has released 2 beta's since then. So is that OK with you ? I haven't insulted anyone at all, I asked a question. You need to stop obsessing over this thread. You keep replying to my threads with nothing to help.

Hello windale,
You asked me to test so you can sort out the slow encoding speed and now you've completely forgotten about it again.
Thank you for your tests, but you're not the only one ConvertXtoVideo user and some more important points taken my time.
MediaInfo always says 3 reference frames now even if I manually set the reference frames
Did you read my posts? It seems you have the same problem with Handbrake right?
Requesting nb ref frames and getting different value in Mediainfos doens't mean the problem is with the conversion program, but can be with Mediainfos.
Before saying that the conversion program doesn't follow the requesting settings, check if your analyse program is working.
Did you reported same ref count problem to Handbrake staff?
your log file says 'Motion estimation=epzs' on veryfast preset (it should be hex) and even if I manually set it to 'hex' the log file still says 'epzs'.
The log file shows the default values, but like you should know, the preset and tune will always overwrite these values.
Who knows what other settings are being wrongly set.
No more settings are wrongly set
I think you should scrap the Custom Profile and start again.
Thank you for this another usefull tip, you are a very helpfull user...
I take it you haven't got the programming skill to fix this ?
Congratulations, by your lack of courtesy you just won one month of forum banning. (Congratulations because you are the first user I banned)
During this month, you should learn more about human relations and check if other software companies meet your expectations/feature requests/bug fixes like VSO does.
