I've been using ConvertXtoDVD to burn video files onto DVD discs to be played with a regular DVD player.
If I upgrade to ConvertXtoHD, would I be able to use the same DVD discs to burn in HD (1080p) and DVD player to play the disc?
In other words, can I burn in HD and use a regular DVD player, or would I need to buy a blue-ray player?
My TV set is : Sony Bravia KDL32W7 LED HD 1080p
Can HD files be played with a regular dvd player?

In most cases you can not play HD files in normal DVD player. Usually they do not support more than DVD resolution.
Some players do, so you need to check on player manual.
