Post by CORRSA »

hey up peeps
I am having problems with convertxtohd
I have a single 24.1gb MOV file
all I want to do is make this file a blu ray (25gb blanks)
but the end product is coming out at 3.88gb
in settings I tell it to be 1080p and a file size of 23gb

Double Click ConvertXtoHD 1.10.15 > (Encoding) - Encoding Options *AUTOMATIC* - Target Size *BD-25 (23000 MB).

(Output Format) - Structure Type *Blu-Ray* - Video Resolution *Automatic*.

DO NOT CHECK *Allow 25p, 30p, 50p and 60p frame rates as its not very Compatible.
(Video Processing) - Check all (3) if possible
1. Use H264 Hardware decoding
2. Allow more then one hardware encoder/decoder instance
3. Use H264 hardware encoding

(Sound Events) - Uncheck *Play Sound Events* Its rather annoying.

*WARNING* If you're using a cracked version of this software it will not function correctly.

Target size is the size to be respected, not to be met.

Can you post your conversion log file please? You can find it by going to Help in ConvertXtoHD, open Log folder and post the most recent biggest file you find there (assuming that will be this specific conversion...).

I don't know that seems very odd to me.
I'll let you know if I have any additional thoughts.

That is only a 18 minute file. It would have completely filled the 23000 MB disc if it had been 105 minutes long.

What is odd to me is the bloated size of the original source file.

That is true. The program will assign as much bitrate as needed as long as the disc won't be overfilled, it will reduce bitrate below optimum as needed if necessary to prevent overfilling.

A Blu-ray disc is designed to hold 120 minutes of HD video with typical content. 120 minutes of your video would require more than 160 GB (about 8 discs at 23000 MB = 22.46 GB) if it was encoded at the same bitrate as your original file. That is bloated no matter how you look at it.

The bitrate of your file would have to be reduced to even fit it on your blu-ray disc even though it is only 18 minutes long. So, again, your file is bloated.

I understand that you want the disc to be filled even with your short file, but doing so would require padding with more bitrate than needed which has been shown many times to not improve quality and sometimes reduces it.
