I did a test on computer that has no accounts on it.
Downloaded and installed Downloader and clicked on random video on Youtube.
Got message that it is secure stream, and live stream is being recorded.
Download took as long as stream, then it was saved with mp4 format.
File plays perfectly.

So - Check that your Chrome does not have automatic login, or that any other program like Gmail is not logged in.

did you try to delete your cookies from "youtube" & " "google" domain:
http://www.aboutcookies.org/DEFAULT.ASPX?page=2

Have tried everything cleared history, cache in Firefox but it is not possible to download
anything from YouTube, but with IE I can download every other video clip and in
IE it is http not https. I am logged out from Google / YouTube.

i am not speaking about cache or history but COOKIES, did you remove them?

All history even cookies in Firefox.
However as did write before it works sometime with IE I use Firefox as my default webb reader.

This worked for me every time, take out the https:// so it now starts with www now just refresh the page and it should detect it, each time i did this and refreshed the page it stayed with the www and didn't revert back to start with https.

I forgot to mention i'm using firefox, if that matters or not i don't know.

Today VSO Downloader last versión 4.1.0.18 doesn´t work for YoutTube's video streaming.... Now, you can't erase or change the security "https://" protocol; it change to security "s" auto. Then VSO downloader can't detect the video streaming. Any help?

First you have to sign out of youtube to be able to view http. If you don't sign out first, when you take out the "s" and reload the page, it will return to https. Then the downloader will work. I'm not particularly fond of having to log out of youtube each time (which also signs you out of gmail) I want to use this downloader but at least it works.

Thanks for answering, but I don't open any Google account at any time, even the YouTube account is closed. No matter which browser I use, it is always the same (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera). two days ago I could download YouTube videos without problems. I tried erasing history, cookies, etc. , and it is always the same. I can restart the PC and open in YouTube and will always be https ... I can't change it. Any suggestions?

This means that your browser is autologging to google or youtube account. Go to login page and SIGN OUT.
Then try again to download.

Thanks for your anwer... ok. I went to login web page, then I login with google account.... I verified that YouTube account login is active... Now I Log out. But the problem is the same I can erase "s" from https. For other hand I wrote that is the same with others web browser, not only with one. ¿ :( ?

Hello. I could delete the "s" in chrome and Firefox already ... but still it doesn't in IE 10. I had to delete the intermediate certificates in the content tab (internet options). At least I was able to make it work (VSO downloader) .... I will continue trying with IE. Thanks for your help... Greetings.

You also need to sign out from Chrome, it is in Chrome settings.

Hi. Only like imformation. I downgrade IE10 to IE9 and all worked fine again. (of course ever I reboot my PC). 12 hours after I decided to upgrade to IE 10 and the problem is back again... maybe a Windows update... I'll see it. Thanks for advice but I logged out in chrome too... it is the same...

I just started having the same problem. Logging out of Youtube all of a sudden did nothing. Youtube wouldn't go out of https now period in either IE or Firefox. What I did was go into options in Firefox and delete the youtube and google account cookies. Restarted browser and had to put in user name and password all over again in google (gmail). Then went back to youtube, logged back out, and tried taking the s out of https again and this time it changed just to www with no https or http at the beginning. Fired up the latest vso downloader and tried to download a youtube vid again. This time it worked. Dunno what the hell is going on or happened to cause that. I do know I have been getting a lot of youtube update notices lately. Well for now it's working. Dunno for how long though.

Always same BIG problems with the latest "4" Version : impossible to download any video on Youtube , even with non securized protocol HTTP ,
even after deleting cookies , changing navigators , etc , etc , I tried ALL !!!
Even on "Najoomi video" , which is not a sucurized site with HTPPS clips : it doesn't work !
I must say the 3 version was more performant (that beats all) ; with the new 4.1.0.18 , some usual ordinary formats I used to download
without any problem , well now , it's not supported -

BUT , I Found THE solution : I downloaded the free programme which records easily and without any problems videos
on youtube , even with the securized protocole "htpps" -

What is this program? If I don't need to be doing this logging out stuff, I'm all ears.

Hi All,

Youtube has modified their Firewall configuration to redirect all port 80 traffic (http) to port 443 (https). I don't think anything you do will change that. It doesn't matter what browser you are using. We do this at my office to ensure people are logging in through encrypted channels. If VSO can't decypt (which I don't see it doing) you won't be able to download videos that are posted to youtube. That's a damn shame.

VSO has had many fine products.

Let's face it, YouTube is Bigger and Stronger than VSO. They have the resources.

Looks like VSO Downloader is a lost cause. Might as well start looking for other options. VSO is a dead end.

It was fun (But pricey) while it lasted.

I tested with new version 4.1.0.18 of VSO Downloader that I installed in computer that has NO logged accounts. No google, no gmail, no FB, nothing.

Then I opened Youtube and clicked randomly on three videos, one of them VIVO release.
I was NOT directed to https, I was on http all the time.

All videos were detected as live stream and downloaded (after some waiting) and finally converted to mp4.
All work perfectly!!
