Hello Coral,

Please do not send your conversion logs to Claire as PM because I can't access it when Claire is not there (like now...).

Thanks.

Hello Cedric,

Thank you for fixing the MKV problem in version 1.2.0.16. on WinXP. I have yesterday posted the 2 MKV files to Claire for her to reproduce the bug. I am using the same files but it is not possible to have the subtitles hard copied on the movie.

Yes, I reproduced and fixed your both problems with your mkv file (subtitles merged in video not working and use of DVD subtitle on output even if merged sub requested)

Thanks.

Will the subtitles hard copy to video problem be fixed in version 1.2.0.18 ?

Is it possible to have a merge button on the main interphase for joining all files ?

Further to the above post.
Can you please limit the number of log files to the last 2 sessions. In time the folder in "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VSO\VSO Video Converter\1\Log" will be clattered with redundant old files.
PS.
I have just downloaded version 1.2.0.18 from the download site and it appears that this version does not work on WinXP.
In version 1.2.0.17 no subtitles can be hard copied.

This has to be the buggiest video converter i've ever seen. All I want to do is convert a movie to MKV and keep the black bars (because my old HDTV won't play it otherwise). I set up a new profile and select the output resolution as 1920x1080 but I can't change the aspect ratio. I want to include the black bars and keep the aspect ratio so it outputs at 1920x1080 please. (My format is set to letterbox).

I've never seen a video converter have so many bugs corrected on each version.

Hello cribber,

"I've never seen a video converter have so many bugs corrected on each version"
The new bugs are often introduced by new features requested by users and are fixed as fast as possible.
The goal of beta versions is to add more user requests, and newly introduced bugs.

The bug you reported is more a feature request than a bug I think.
Removing useless black bars is a feature requested by users too, and it make sense.
Why we should encode useless black bars?
The only one reason I can see now is for users that own an old HDTV! (not able to play a movie with same resolution as native screen, like 1920x1440 - 4/3)
So, your post title should be "can you add a feature request to encode black bars" or "can you add aspect ratio setting in custom profile editor", and for sure this feature request will be added quickly....

If you want to help VSO, and have a program adapted for your (special) case, just report your problem (and post your log files), and we will do all we can...

Regards,

Regards,

I'll just have to use an older version of your video converter because it used to work fine. I think all converters allow this, i'll go back to Xilisoft's for the moment.

cribber, Miracles are performed while you wait. The impossible takes a little longer  . Just joking.
Please keep in mind that no other software company leans back to satisfy the requests of its patrons. I've only seen it done here.
I am still waiting for a version that will not freeze and is capable to hard copy the subtitles in WinXP. I hate Win 7 !! Beside I have some expensive hardware which will only perform well on XP. So I just have to wait.

The log text files will be kept as they are good for trouble shooting. You can delete them if you want yourself but they are good for VSO to keep in order to help users.

As for the problem on XP, the software does work but appears to have a problem embedding subtitles on XP. using converting to a profile with DVD subtitles does work.

(reproduced using the files you provided and requesting them to be embedded)

From Cedric's reply (as seen above) I have been under impression that both bugs have been fixd for WinXP. Even with version 1.2.0.18, If I use MKV files which contain sublitles and want to have the subtitles hard copied, the converter will freeze up.

I also confirm with 1.2.0.18 - there is still a problem

Hello Cedric, The MKV hard copy subtitles problem in WinXP is now solved.

It appears that DVD subtitles are not working. No subtitles are included.

I have Muxed subtitles in a AVI movie using AVI Mux 1.17.8.3. VSO converter does not recognize the subtitles. However I can play the file in VLC player and the subtitles are there.

I think I will need more information to reproduce what you are reporting as with the conversion profile you attached "PAL 169 With DVD Subs" on XP and Windows 7 I can convert a file with srt subtitles and the final result does have subtitles.

Hello Claire, Can you try to reproduce DVD suptitles using the 2 MKV files I have uploader some time ago ?

I have also tested with the following files from http://www.auby.no/files/video_tests/. The MKV file play perfectly well in VLC with subtitles included. But when converted for DVD subtitles in VSO converter the subtitles will not play.
Monsters, Matrix, Planet.

Also, in this last version, it is not possible for me to clear the open file history.

tried to convert mkv alice in wonderland with profile "PAL 169 With DVD Subs" on XP and subtitles are on final conversion.

Please tell me how to reproduce: with what file and profile and other settings and other settings / posting your log file will help.
