will there be a portable version ?

like for a telephone?

for WinXP ?

I downloaded the installer and installed WinCap; move one folder to the userdata folder and the main application to a USB drive and it is working so far; guess it is not possible because Wincap is required

You can do a portable version but you will need to install winpcap and copy the userdata folder with the right path.
Otherwise the registry will be recreated with your portable version without any problem.

You can do a .bat script in order to copy the userdata folder (you just need to copy the ini files in the root directory:
i.e: C:\Users\ben\AppData\Roaming\vso\VSO Downloader\*.ini
then lauch the installer of Winpcap

the latest version has been improve to be embedded in a silent installer
