can you add the option to scale to 16:9 tv? I watch videos almost exclusively on my tv. without the scale to 16:9 the videos looked stretched. the player is useless to me if I can't watch my videos on it.

So you have your computer connected to TV and you use TV as display?
What is TVs brand and model?

yes I use my TV as a display. it's an LG LCD TV. model number 42LD520.

The scale mde option is planed, we will post here as soon as it's done.

That TV is FullHD.
If you set your computer correctly it will use FullHD (1920x1080) resolution when using that TV.
That resolution is 16:9, no special modes required.

However; if your computer is not set to send FullHD then you have problems.

no I don't have the computer set to fullHD. I have a regular computer monitor hooked up to it as well that isn't HD. I'll poke around the options and see if it will let me adjust it for the tv.

the computers maximum resolution is 1024x768. that's the highest it will let me set it anyway. I assume the tv is set to the same thing. I have it set to duplicate these displays and I can see no way to adjust the resolutions separately. I can adjust the tv up to 1920x1080 if I disable the computer monitor but that's not ideal. it would be a hassle to have to keep enabling and disabling. I've been using media player classic home cinema for my videos and that works fine but I have to enable the scale to 16:9 tv every time.

You are actually wasting your TV with current setup...

I haven't made any adjustments to anything. I basically just plugged the tv into the computer.

More into the basics.

Have you updated your GFX-card drivers?
What's your computer's brand and model?

That GFX card supports two different displays.
Go to GFX settings and change it to use 2 separate displays, second as addition to desktop.
Then adjust resolution of second display to 1920x1080.
To make it easier to use, adjust position of screens so that TV is in correct place relating to monitor, so when you move mouse towards TV it really goes there.
You will be amazed of the quality of picture you get on TV after this operation!

I usually keep my graphics driver updated. but now that I look there has been a new update that I don't have.

my computer is a HP P6620F

I have been following this thread and have a question. What is the advantage of playing the video on computer and feeding it to the TV as opposed to burning to DVD and playing using your standalone player with the TV?

DVD is only 720x480/576..

Thanks for that. Would I be correct in assuming that this only works if the file you have on your computer already has a 1080p resolution and that these files are being played directly in their original form and not converted to DVD at all? How does this work if the original has a lower resolution - does VSO player upscale? And if it does, would this work better than a DVD player that has upscaling capability?

If files are in higher resolution that DVD then it looks better always played in native format.
If your system can handle big resolutions then yes, they should be upscaled, and usually upscaling is not noticeable.

For lower resolution files it does not matter, convert to DVD. And of course if you DVD player is hooked to surround system then use it to play those files.
Very often good audio makes low-res movie good.
