VSO will soon be releasing a new product called Video Converter.
It will convert any video format to any video format (or at least the most common ones requested).
A beta will be posted in the forum soon (maybe in 1-3 weeks).

I have high hopes for this. I'm always on the look out for a new video transcoder.
I regularly beta test and find bugs with medicoder, i'm generally very picky about the whole business.

When its ready
Look how long ConvertxtoDVD 5 took, but once here support was and is continuous with frequent bug releases and suggestions as and when ready. Unlike soem that release "maybe" once or twice a year and charge for the privaledge of the bug fixes

who charges for bug fixes?
The only reason why CX2DVD has seen so many bug updates is because the RTM version had so many bugs in it.

Just a few, which people will probably ask for once the beta is out
1) CUDA/OpenCL. People will always ask for this now
2) Ability to import profiles from Blu-Ray/DVD Ripper
3) Batch processing built-in. Please
4) AviSynth support, or at least the ability to import .avs scripts
5) Filters. Even handbrake has a few simple filters that x264 uses
6) downsampling and upsampling audio. If you have a stereo source its nice to at least have the option to convert it to pseudo 5.1/6.1 audio
7) Free and Pro versions. Can be a mixed opinion. But the free could to basic conversion so people can see whats possible, with the pro offering everything
