CUDA problem

Post by Chihuahua »

it seems that CUDA enabled gives you worst results in this last version. It´s faster as always to encode with CUDA , however the quality decreases. I´m attaching to pics of a movie just encoded with and with out cuda on, and francly i like it better without it. probaly you can reproduce it allso. any thoughts?

core i7 860
gt force 220

mkv to m2ts does the job good, so the problem could be mp4 to m2ts and cuda?

thanks for yor time.

Those pictures are not same frame, comparison is useless.
You need to have exactly same frame to compare.

Can you give bitrate, filesize and H264 level/profile used for both files?

Thank you

ok, here we go same frame...judge yourselves. I´m using transport stream m2ts blu-ray profile provided by you. the input file is a MKV

cuda on bitrate 3829

cuda off bitrate 4636

that make sense, that explains why cuda option is faster because it reduces bitrate. that´s why it looks uglier also.

But why?, I guess it supposed to code at the same bitrate.

The result without cuda looks great! but takes ages :(

do you need more info?

thanks.

Please switch to "Tree" mode view in Mediainfo then resend your screenshot please.
I need to know the H264 profile/level used for both conversions...

Thanks!

Hello Chihuahua,

I made some changes in H264 CUDA encoder, can you try the current beta version (1.0.0.7) to see if video quality is better now?

Thank you.
