legality using VSO downloader

Hello, In the past I have been nailed using P2P via VPN for downloading video and music. At the time I did not realize I was doing anything wrong until I had to pay for my mistake which was not cheap. What I want to know is will I get into the same issue using VSO downloader. When I went threw the legal BS of using P2P via VPN I was told that there was not a problem for downloading but the fact that I shared that download. At the time I did not realize that was happening until its to late. SO, I obviously do not want to go threw that again. I want to know if its legal to rip streaming internet video/music of any kind for personal use only via VSO downloader and also are my downloads shared at all. Meaning will I get in trouble from lawyer trolls for doing such an act?

Downloading with VSO Downloader is exactly same to provider as you clicking on movie/song etc. to watch it online.
If it is legal to watch that online, then so is using Downloader.

Downloaded files are not shared to anyone, it is not P2P program.
All it does is capture stream that you are receiving and saving it to your computer.

Another issue is if you manually spread those downloads later - that is illegal in some countries.

Thank you very much for the reply to my question. I was thinking the same but was not sure. I am glad that is cleared up so I can now purchase, download and install VSO dowloader and other products. I do have one last question. What is meant by the word "spread"? Are you meaning "share". I do not share anything any more. My downloads are for my personnel use and viewing only. Rather than view the stream as it streams I would rather save it so I can watch at another time and also for bandwidth lag which is not there if the stream is downloaded. Again thank you for your reply.
