Remuxed (Raw Copy) error

Hello!

New user of VSO, and enjoying it a lot. I'm at a loss trying to figure out what I,m doing wrong. When converting videos, whether they are located on the hard drive or a dvd, using a MKV custom profile with everything set to Remux, the program immediately stops with "an error occurred while converting". I even tried the pre-made "MKV - Remux profile (copy if possible) setting under "Generic video" settings, and I get the same thing. I've tried with and without hardware optimizations turned on. I think I've narrowed it down to a problem with the subtitles, but I'm not sure. When my custom profile subtitles are set to DVD Subtitles or SRT without "Copy (remux) if possible" checked, it works. But if I check mark the "Copy (remux) if possible" on ANY of the subtitle options, the program immediately stops with an error. It also happens when using any of the other subtitle options with or without the 'remux' option checked.

My goal is to convert my entire DVD collection over to MKV with all of the subtitle, forced subtitle, and audio options as original as possible. I downloaded a trial version of MakeMKV, and it does exactly what I am wanting, but I like the MANY other features that VSO has to offer, especially merging discs together. Plus I've already bought VSO... LOL! :-)

There's no doubt that it's me doing something wrong...I just can't figure out what it is. Any help would be appreciated....Thanks!

Hello MyMojo,

Please do a clean/fresh install of the new beta, v1.4.0.8, and try again. Post that log when finished.

Thanks for the reading,
Neil M

Well...no need to post another log. I installed the beta version, and guess I wasn't the only one having problems with the subtitles causing errors. They removed ALL of the subtitle options now except for DVD and BluRay subs (VOBSUB & PGS). I am using Plex for streaming, and the main supported subtitle formats are SRT, SSA, and SMI. VOBSUB will work (kind of) with Plex, but not as good.....and not at all on some players/client apps. Hopefully they are working to resolve the problem, and will keep an eye out for future beta releases. Thanks Neil for taking the time to help me out.

Yes there are still problems with beta that we need to correct, but what makes you say this?

Hi Claire! To better answer your question, I will post screenshots when I get home this evening. I'm on the road now and can't do it.

But in a nutshell, when creating a custom profile the dropdown menu for subtitle types that exists in the stable version include multiple types to choose from, including SRT, SSA, etc. In the latest beta version, the only types that display are DVD, BLU-ray, and Merged in Video.

Thanks,
Garrett

P.S.

I am learning about video files and how to create/edit them for the first time, and completely new to all of this. So...it's possible that my problems are a simple case of 'user error'.

Okay...here are the screenshots to show the missing subtitle options in beta 1.4.0.8 that exist in version 1.3.0.0. In these photos, I have MKV selected as the container.

First time attaching files...hope this works.

Also, Claire if you want to change the title of this thread to something more relevant to subtitles....that would be great. When I first posted I wasn't sure what was giving me problems. Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for the screenshots.
I think this was an error that these output subtitle formats existed in 1.3.0.0, in fact of the ones available that I don't think were intended to be listed is SRT, Subrip, Mov and the conversion fails if they are selected.
(for SSA worked, the conversion completed but I do not see the subtitles in the output file, the file info says they are there but they are not visible on the screen)
The other subtitles, Merged in Video, DVD or Blu-ray Subtitles are the only ones I think were intended to be listed there.

So you only have 3 choices for subtitles, and from what you say you don't want merged subtitles. I guess DVD subtitles would be the best, and I think the "Copy (remux) if possible would even be the best.
