Cuda Encoder Option Deactivated After Driver Update
HI.... Just discovered this today. NVidia came out with an upgraded driver for my GTX560 card a few days ago. I installed it yesterday, and now my encoder optimization selection has been greyed out. Anyone else experiencing the same problem? The latest driver is 340.52, and this is my video card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130660
Thanks!

Yes, mine is the same after updating my nVidia Geforce GTX 645 card to 340.52 driver. Also posted in the high definition audio thread.MyMojo wrote:HI.... Just discovered this today. Re: Cuda Encoder Option Deactivated After Driver Update
Thanks Claire! I simply reinstalled the older driver and will continue using it until the newer version supports the Cuda update. Also, thanks a million for your patience on these threads. I've taken some time to read other threads, and how you keep your sanity is beyond me. I would have quit loooooong ago! Ha Ha!!

Re: Cuda Encoder Option Deactivated After Driver Update
I rolled back my Invidia driver and now everything works OK (except audio remux of course) and the program no longer freezes randomly.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Re: Cuda Encoder Option Deactivated After Driver Update
According to this link from DVDHelp site Cuda has not been included in the latest update:
http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/3664 ... is-no-more
I really hope that this is just a mistake from Nvidia and not a push to remove CUDA from its software and hardware - from an encoding point of view CUDA makes a huge difference, literally hours of difference.

Re: Cuda Encoder Option Deactivated After Driver Update
Thanks eon....looks like it's true. I found this on the gforce forum. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topi ... /?offset=9
NVidia appears to have discontinued support for NVCUVENC and is forcing developers to move towards NVENC, which cards with chips older than the Kepler and Maxwell can not use. That would be MY situation... :-(
There appears to be a workaround (read: hacked) driver that will still keep it working...but it won't last long and probably isn't very reliable either.
Guess I'm sticking with the older driver for a while until I upgrade. Hopefully VSO can support both NVCUVENC and NVENC in their programs. If not, looks like NVIDIA is forcing an upgrade on me. I hate companies that bully their customers....and if I can help it, I'll find a different way in my future build (other than NVIDIA) to encode. Anybody here seeing great results with Intel and Quick Sync?

Re: Cuda Encoder Option Deactivated After Driver Update
Hi all,
I can confirm that nvcuvenc API is no longer provided with last Nvidia drivers...
We are implementing NVENC API at this time, but this API is only supported by professional/gamer Nvidia graphic cards...
So, the only solution we can provide is to copy the nvcuvenc.dll in installation path while installing.
This "patch" is available in last beta version (1.4.0.12), and we are waiting for your feedback about your H264 CUDA encoding tests.
Thank you for reporting back this problem.
Regards,

Hey Cedric...just installed the latest video driver (340.52) and did a clean install of VSO-VC beta (.12bc). Works awesome! Getting ~390 FPS converting MPEG2 to H264 from DVD.
Thank you sir!

Re: Cuda Encoder Option Deactivated After Driver Update
Not Solved:
When testing I made sure the CUDA option would allow me to select it, then ran a test. Everything seemed fine with the preview, but I didn't think to actually WATCH the finished video. As a result, it does not actually place a video file into the container. It only places the audio file in the container.
Sorry about this. I guess I was too happy hoping it would work.
I see this has been marked as SOLVED. So, if I don't get any responses in a few business days, I'll start a new thread.
I had to revert back to the older video driver, clean off beta .12, and then reinstall beta .8 to get everything back working. Beta .12 will not allow CUDA to work at all on my older card.
Thanks.

Re: Cuda Encoder Option Deactivated After Driver Update
I got the same result.
Encoding all looks good, preview etc. But when you play the completed file it only contains audio. MediaInfo confirms this.
