All VSO Video converter versions load PAL DVD from folder or ISO good and when convert into NTSC DVD it gives a DVD that stops working at last chapter.ie it gives a DVD that is not complete .if it's length is 60 minutes it works fine for the first 55 minuets and hangs. Stop playing while the original PAL DVD works fine.
I have tested this with all VSO Video converter version and give the same issue.
I have tested this with all ConvertXtoDVD version 5.0 and give the same issue.
I rolled back to ConvertXtoDVD version 4.00 all 4 versions I have since purchase and they were fine and give me full nice NTSC working DVD..NO Issue..
I upgraded to ConvertX2DVD 5 and also to VSO video converter to get the updates not to roll back to convertX2DVD v4.0.
Any help please!!!!

Hi Eagle,

I just happen to have some PAL discs (Jamie Oliver, from UK....big fan!) and am currently running a test on my system now, to see if I get the same results as you. First, I had to reinstall the latest NVidia drivers and VSO-VC beta .13b to see if the CUDA accelerator will now work on the older cards, and appears to be working fine now (Thanks Cedric!)

I will post back when the conversion, burning, and playback test on my set-top TV player is complete...

Well, I didn't get through with the conversion....found a possible bug. I will do it again with '2 pass encoding' disabled, and report back.

I was converting a PAL to NTSC with '2-pass encoding' enabled. The first pass through all of the files went smoothly, but when it went back to start the second pass it went into a 'time stamp error' loop.

I have posted a screenshot, and my crash log.

Thanks.

After I disabled 2 pass encoding, it finished okay. Tried it in my Blu-ray set-top player, and everything worked fine and didn't hang up at the end. I did notice that at the end of the last title, there is about a 10 second or so delay. But I also noticed it did a "Loop Playback" after the last title finished, when I didn't have that option enabled.....And, when selecting chapters, the last chapter number on each title doesn't exist on the DVD and when you click it, it starts that title over from the beginning....i.e., if you have a title with 6 chapters, when you go to chapter menu for that title there will be 7 chapters displayed, instead of 6. Clicking chapter 7 will start the title over at the very beginning. Not sure what's going on there....???

I don't have much experience with the DVD settings, so it could have been something else I had set but don't know. But everything else seemed to work okay.

Eagle, did you try playing the DVD in another player? To see if it does the same thing?

Hi MyMojo.....
If my PAL DVD has 20 chapters and one title. Loaded into VSO VC and as well as ConvertXtoDVD v5.0 , and converted into NTSC DVD,it is finished and give a message completed successfully, Now the DVD plays ok all the 19 chapters and when reaches chapter 20 it stops .if loop playback is enabled it returns into chapter 1 and did not play the last chapter.
It shows all chapters i.e the 20 chapters but really they are just 19 and the 20th has lost ...
this dose not happen when using ConvertXtoDVD v4.0 at all.
I tried more than 10 PAL DVD's on 2 different computers . all give me the same uncompleted NTSC DVD.
This show on any DVD player I tested.I think that VSO VC and convertXtoDVD v5.0 have the way for reading IFO DVD structure that has some bug that is not present in convertXto DVD version 4.0 which reads the DVD structure correctly.I have reached to a result that they do not read DVD structure correctly. I am now trying to convert NTSC DVD into PAL DVD to see the result.I will post the results.

I made many tests and reached a result that VSO VC and convertXtoDVD version 5.0 share the same issue of reading IFO DVD structure incorrectly.
If I load any video file that supported by VSO it gives a good result but when loading DVD structure it dose not give required DVD it is shortened that has the last chapter not playable. I will stick to convertXtoDVD version 4.0 till this issue is solved. By this I will lose the GPU benefit supported by VSO VC.what should I do ?????

@eagle2000 we will need to reproduce to fix. , I've sent you an email.
the problem is the way we import the structure and this is new in VC and in CXD V5

I don't have a 'movie' DVD in PAL to test, but I do have several TV show series DVDs of Jamie Oliver in PAL. I just finished testing my DVD again, and I'm getting different results. Mine plays everything (including last chapter that's on the original) but adds an extra chapter at the end of each title that does nothing except start that chapter over again. Otherwise it works fine.

I've tried to reproduce these problems:
-"loop playback when not checked", In VLC the video stops playing and loop playback does not happen.
- with these items checked
[x] Use 2 pass encoding
[x] Use best video quality settings
[x] Use hardware decoding (if possible)
and converting to ntsc 16/9, conversion completes with success.
- getting more chapters than there actually are, I created 7 chapters and there are 7 chapters in my menu. Clicking on the chapter 7 goes to chapter 7 and plays it fine, in VLC. I did have the bug however that the thumbnails in the chapter menu were all black (no video appeared), this bug was reported here

So for the last point about chapters, are the chapters, original chapters or one you are creating in th software? Does this happen with no matter what movie, or only one in particular?

It may have to do with the PAL DVDs I have. They are all TV show series with multiple titles. I don't have a PAL disc with just a regular movie on it to test. I will take some screen shots and photos to explain this better. I'll post when I'm finished.

Also, I did post a screenshot and crashlog of when the program 'hangs' when 2 pass is enabled.

6.9 GB raw. I am ripping it down and will compress into rar or something to see how small I can get it. I'll post back when I'm done.

Ok... I'll work it now. Also, slight correction to the extra chapter problem.... It doesn't repeat the same title, it actually starts the NEXT title. Each episode is exactly the same beginning, so thought it was repeating title, but is starting next title instead.....strange

Hello MyMojo & Eagle2000,

What format is/are your video file(s)? Sometimes the file itself can be cluttered and unorganized, causing read errors when being used by other programs. Have you tried cleaning it/them up using MKVToolnix? If not, please try it. It will mux it over (copy the video, audio, subs, chapters, etc) all into the MKV format. Also, have you tried doing a clean/fresh install of the latest beta? This may also fix some errors you may be having.

Please try those and reconvert. Post your results afterwards.

Thanks for reading,
Neil M

Hi Neil,

I first used the original factory disc. When that didn't work, I then ripped it to the hard drive using AnyDVD, and afterward tried VSO on the files only. Still didn't work. I haven't tried MKVToolnix (don't know anything about it), but it's on my list of programs to learn, as I only started learning about video compression/conversion and encoding/decoding about 3 weeks ago. :-P
Also, have you tried doing a clean/fresh install of the latest beta? This may also fix some errors you may be having.
Yep, using the latest .13 Beta, and used the Clean VSO tool before installing it.

I am in the process of uploading the file to their server right now, so they can look at it. It's a TV series disc, and not a movie.

Cheers
Garrett
