Does VSO downloader encode or modify the video in any way?
Can I download a perfect exact copy without any modification? ( the exactly same copy as the one on remote server )

VSO Downloader downloads the stream as-is. It also has the option to convert the file afterwards.

I may wish to know if the free VSO Downloader attempts to 'catches' the streaming video directly on the server or if they have processed the file in any way before letting it finished for the user? More seriously speaking, if the checksum of the downloaded file is actually the same as that of the one on the server side. Thank you

The stream is downloaded with the max info for the client. We always try to get the best possible of information and the most of it and provide it to the user - this is 100%.
