Only Getting 5 Fps When Converting MKV to DVD

Post by bernieo »

Hi,

On my desktop I own ConvertxtoDVD v5 and always get 25-45 fps when converting mkv's to dvd. I've installed the trial version of ConvertXtoVideo v1.5.0.24 on the same desktop but can only get 5 fps with the same operation. I must stop the conversion as it would take all day. Very frustrating as I'm using the exact same settings for both program. However, ConvertXtoVideo runs perfectly fine on my laptop.

I've uninstalled, reinstalled, and also installed the latest beta of ConvertXtoVideo with the same results. Each time it starts the conversion, I see 25 fps, and then within 5 seconds it immediatly drops to 5 fps.

Thanks,

Bernie

I think I solved my own problem... :)

Under Settings / Hardware optimizations... I changed: "Maximum of hardware decoder (DXVA2) instances in same time" from the default value '4 to value '0'. This seems to have done the trick.

Even though all my hardware encoding optimizations had been disabled (i.e. not available), I guess the above value still needed to be set to '0'.

Hello bernieo,

Thank you for your feedback...

Just for test, can you enable hardware decoding in ConvertXtoDVD to see if you get same low encoding rate?

Hi,

Yes, the same low 5 fps happens when I enable "Use H264 hardware decoding (if possible)" in ConvertxtoDVD v5. ConvertxtoDVD starts out at 25 fps, then within seconds drops to the 5 fps.
