This video format doesn't convert properly

I uploaded 1 minutes worth as I have a very slow upload speed. The format was recorded with my little freeview TV box, it records to USB stick.

Once converted it looks like it's missing half the frames, doesn't play as smooth as the original. It looks like bad de-interlacing.
Tried in v2.0.0.6 and v2.0.0.7 in Software Encoding.

Thanks for the file.
What format are you converting it to?

I have tried MP4 x264 and a custom profile, both give the same result. It doesn't look as smooth as the original.

What media player are you using? with Hardware encoders or decoders? Can you post your conversion log file?
I don't see a problem. Is the problem easier to notice as a particular playing time?

I can tell the difference on any part. The original plays smooth but when converted it looks like the converter has removed one of the interlace fields and doesn't look smooth. You can definitely tell at about 17 seconds when the guy moves side to side and the text bar comes up at the bottom.

Cedric has been able to see the difference and in the next version (coming in a few hours, to be posted on the forum as a beta) you will have a setting I think you can select to change the deinterlacing methods to get a smoother result.

Where would I find this setting ? I can't find anything about de-interlacing on v2.0.0.8.

Hello,
In advanced edition, select a video track then go to the last tab (containing image enhancements/watermark features) ...

I used the test clip I posted in this thread and tried every de-interlace option, when you click on Start it locks up. It even locks up if you leave it on VSO !!

I tried all the de-interlace options and it still doesn't look as smooth as the original. Is it not possible to convert to the same interlaced format ?
If it de-interlaced it correctly it should automatically be double the frame rate to keep all the frames and not delete any (50fps).

What did you used to play the original file?
What deinterlacing method was used in your video player to render (smoothly) your original file?
Thanks.

Yes, that was the version I tested, v2.0.0.8 didn't even work properly and kept locking up.
On Handbrake, when you convert a interlaced clip using the de-interlace filter 'Bob', it automatically doubles the frame rate because it keeps all the frames and doesn't delete any of the fields. I'll just have to use Handbrake to convert interlaced files.
I use Media Player Classic to play files.

I converted your test file using Handbrake and, using Bob deinterlace or decomb filters always produce a 25Fps progressive video?
What are your Handbrake settings to get a 50 Fps progressive video on output?

In Handbrake I left all settings as the default when loaded (regular normal preset). The only thing I changed was Filters/De-interlace preset Bob. It automatically doubles the frame rate and is smooth like the original.

Can you please post your Handbrake result like you do for your original file?
Thank you!

I think Cedric means post your converted result with Handbrake in google docs like you did the source file.
