Chrome HTTPS error - ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID

[edit 02 Aug. 2017] : This problem should no longer occur starting from version 5.0.1.47.
available here http://download.vso-software.fr/archive ... 0.1.47.exe
Since the version 58.0.3029.81 of Chrome the HTTPS support is affected, you should see a message saying: ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID when loading a secure Web page.
We will support it in a future version meanwhile the update we have some temporary solutions:
- Use a different browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, etc...) to detect HTTPS content.
- you can get a previous version of Chrome and disable the auto update by typing in the address bar: 'about:plugins' then click disable on the plugin called 'Google Update' (restart Chrome to apply changes):
https://www.chrome-portable.com/index.p ... -installer has download links to previous versions.
- In VSO Downloader you can turn off the HTTPS support (if you don't need to capture HTTPS content), to disable it go to Settings > Detection > uncheck HTTPS/SSL support
You can however continue to use Chrome and use the "copy/paste URL method" (via the green download button or use the top menu Detection / Download URL). It is probably easiest if you stop the live detection so that you can actually view the content on Chrome. To do so, click on the green turning circle in the upper right hand corner of VSO Downloader and it will become red. Refresh Chrome and the content should appear again (rather than the error)
