What is VSO Eve for?

Hello everyone,,
Under Settings - Detection - Network Adapter, there are two options under Network Driver.
WinPcap (libpcap driver)
VSO EVE (NDIS driver)

If I try to select the VSO EVE, it bounces back to WinPcap. So in effect VSO EVE cannot be selected. So what is it even there for?

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
It does not matter anymore and should disappear in future versions.
The default settings are the best!
Cheers,

Hello Maggie,
I have always selected and used --> VSO EVE (NDIS driver)
Are you saying it is no longer needed and will be removed from future versions ?
Just curious, thank you !

Be curious!
In brief, drivers (EVE, WinPcap) became obsolete with the HTTPS.
VSO Downloader is now using Proxy (able to decrypt HTTPS data), we had to quickly implement this third solution since it is the only one that doesn't need a massive amount of work from the team.
We are not sure (yet) drivers will be removed, we need to evaluate the number of cases [HTTPs+NotUsingSystemProxy] and decide if coding drivers to decrypt HTTPS will be worth it. (has advantages: not a cooperative method, doesn't need a special configuration). However, it is not likely since I understand that few apps aren't using the system proxy (risk to be blocked).
Hope I've been clear enough!
Cheers,
