Video will not convert

Post by eddie11013 »

Bought a movie online. Downloaded same. Went to convert to put it on a DVD and got a message saying it couldn't be done. Tried to convert file using Any Video Converter, same result, couldn't convert. The video file played just fine using my MPC-HC VIDEO Player.

Log attached and image capture.

Thanks in advance

It might be protected file, can you get details from MPC when file is loaded?
Shift+F10 should open dialog where those details are.

To problem solve this
1. Try converting a video file that you know is not "protected" like a youtube video or a home movie. Use a rewritable DVD to save wasting a good blank DVD
If this works then you know the file that failed is copy protected.
I have never had the issue you describe with this software on unprotected files

2. If you still have the problem with a youtube video or a home movie, then try uninstall and doing "clean" install of the app.
3. And if still have a problem after that then must be you computer setup
Please post if this helps

Actually, I already did this, that is, I downloaded a youtube video of this movie, Ike, and converted it without issue. However, I didn't like the 'quality' so that's when I decided to 'buy' a copy online. The 'quality' that I downloaded from this online "buy" was much better so I wanted to put it on a DVD, but then that's when I ran into this issue.

Appears that it is "NOT" protected, per the properties / details file. Have a look at the attached capture.

Maybe you could contact the company you bought the download off and ask them for help i.e how can you do a backup of the download to DVD

Usually sold movies have a copy protection. They don't want to make it easy for the movie to be copied otherwise they will be losing money.

Try and use a demo version of this software:

Tried the 'demo' version, it converted a few minutes, but still didn't work with convertxtodvd.

So, I lost a little money, it happens.

Thanks everybody.

Stay Safe

Just an update - I decided to try an old program - DVD Flick - And it worked. So I'm happy now. So I have to assume there must be something in the convertxtodvd program that won't let this "particular" video file to work. Anyway this was a one time solution for this particular issue.

Thanks again!
