The original movie file is a 21060p, 3500MB. It looks great playing in VLC on my computer. See Image A sample detail.

When I burn it with ConvertXtoDVD 7 to a 4.7 GB disc using the default settings the resulting image quality is significantly degraded. See Image sample B detail.

Are there settings that I can adjust to improve the result? Anything else that could be going on? Thank you.

You are converting from 4k to HD.
Original is 3840 × 2160 pixels and your converted file is 720 x 480 pixels.
Result is actually good conversion.

Firstly, you've got a stray extra 0 in your 2160p. You are not going to ever get 4k or UHD quality on a DVD. It's just not going to happen. If you could they never would have invented 4K Ultra HD Blu-rays. Regular Blu-rays only go up to 1080p.

I think you meant SD and not HD.

Thanks folks. So it seems that using the larger size movie files makes no difference in the quality I'm going to see when I watch them from the burned DVDs of those files. Or at least 4.7GB size DVDs. Is that right?

Yes the result for dvd format is DVD quality i.e. 720 x 480 pixels

If you want higher quality like 1080 use ConvertxtoHD, but you will need a BluRay player. If you have one and want to use DVD media, then select AVCHD to DVD5 for 1080.
