Chapters Display Like Subtitles

When i burn mp4 files to dvd that have chapters marked, each chapter displays on the screen like subtitles how do i get that to stop? It's really annoying.
Are those markers visible on original video?
If not, then check your DVD player settings, there should be option to turn those on/off.
